Re: Free Agency Thread
So far around 75 free agents have agreed to deals. The Wolves, Celtics, and Grizzlies being the only teams to make no additions (assuming Dinwiddie to the Nets happens).

Haven't the Wolves signed 3 FAs? 2 UDFAs Miller and Wright and one current NBA FA Knight.

Two way guys and training camp contracts aren't the same as regular roster contracts.

I know they're ridiculously small signings, but they are signings or if two way they don't count?

I wouldn't count them as free agent signings since they are not part of the regular roster. It's kind of sad that the signings of two way players is all that Wolves fans have to discuss.

Very boring. I'm not sure if sad. Sometimes the best deal is the one you don't make.

Being a Wolves fan is hard. No trades at the last trade deadline, no draft picks, no free agents, and one off-season trade that is the definition of underwhelming.

I'm just fine with being a Wolves fan. I'm excited to see the Wolves take big strides forward in the upcoming season.

Re: Free Agency Thread
Sign and trades need to be completely eliminated in the next CBA, this is ridiculus,
Big market teams are making a complete mockery of the salary cap using sign and trades this offseason.
Miami, already with 2 max players, can somehow afford to sign Lowry for 30 mil/year and then give Duncan Robinson 5/90 (yikes)?
There will never be any parity in the NBA without a hard cap.
But Rosas made his own bed. It's not the cold weather, its the fact that this franchise is a laughingstock.
And KAT may be talented, but no truly elite player is going to want to play with him after what JImmy Butler did to him.
Leave yourself hard up against the luxury tax before FA even begins? check.
Literally can't give away your top 10 pick from 2 years ago? check.
Salary dump your fan favorite, lone marketable expiring before FA opens and he nearly takes out team USA 1 on 5? check.
Add a 2nd round pick in a year you already have 2 instead of one of the years you gave yours away? check.
Overpaid max contract you can't give away? check.
Send 7th overall pick to team that went to the finals 5 years in a row for said player you can't give away? check.
Poor cap management causing you to go without using the MLE 3rd year in a row? check.
Rosas is a joke. The best thing he can do now is NOTHING.
The best we can hope for over the coming season is that ANT and McDaniels grow by leaps and bounds and make this THEIR team and DLO and KAT either decide to get with the program and become winners and play defense or they can move on.
Every year there are FA diamonds signed for peanuts. Find this years RIchaun Holmes. Forget the 3 point shooting, its a luxury I don't give a rats patoot about system fit at this point. FInd me a PF/C who can play defense and rebound. KAT is so bad defensively we are dead in the water without someone next to him who is at least competent.
Sign a DJ WIlson like someone suggested. sign 3 of them for peanuts and hope one pans out. Don't pay someone (probably costing you at least one future 1st) who doesn't move the needle just to make it look like you did something.
It sucks not doing anything, but it can get much worse if we end up mortgaging the future without significantly improving the team. The west is loaded. The smart move is looking 2-3 years down the road. But that's not what executives who are on the hot seat (and frankly, deserve to be fired) do.

That was a large % of the McHale trade deadlines and at least a few offseasons IIRC. So not like totally new frontier.

Best post of the year. Someone print this post and leave it under Rosas' windshield wiper.

Some overreactions in this thread. We aren’t getting a player unless it’s through a trade. We don’t have the cap space for it. And yeah you can knock Rosas for putting us in cap purgatory, but the truth is the only bad contracts we have is Hernangomez and Culver, both Rosas acquisitions so it falls on him, but otherwise Rosas is directly responsible for Ant, D’Lo, McDaniels, And Reid. He should also get credit for keeping KAT content enough not to demand a trade in public. You can’t blame Rosas for not signing a blue chip free agent and then not recognize that Rosas has made the Wolves more valuable in terms of player and draft-pick assets.

You're full of it about D Lo. We don't want to give him away and we could if we wanted to. You're calling Rosas a joke and yet the future of the team is all about 2 of his draft picks. I get some negativity, but you go way overboard.younggunsmn wrote:Sign and trades need to be completely eliminated in the next CBA, this is ridiculus,
