I enjoyed that little stroll down memory lane. Remember, way back when Ricky made Derrick Williams look like he might, maybe, someday be an NBA-level player? Yeah......

We would also need to find a solution to our PF hole that doesn’t necessitate trading Johnson’s expiring deal.

Tough choice.

Yeah, this is more or less my thought process regarding this choice.

In a vacuum I'd love Ricky back, great character and a pretty good player who I think would mesh relatively well with what we're doing, whilst adding a solid vet.

However, whilst his contract is short he is on more money than I'd really like to be paying him, which would also likely lead to us needing to include JJ, thus limiting our options to strengthen in a greater area of need.

Any big external improvement we make (outside of the draft) is likely going to be directly linked to JJ's contract, so we need to tread carefully there IMO.

One too many whilsts for me.

They could trade JJ for Rubio, draft any of the decent looking PFs from this draft. Some even shoot well. But for me this ship sailed when they got Dlo here just like I'm against bringing any good vet PG or drafting one high that would have to play PG to be of any use to us. To me it breaks the roster if the player can't also shift to SG and be a plus there and I don't choose Rubio for any SG minutes, whoever has him should want him commanding an offense even if he's playing off bench.

Suns were foolish if you ask me. They had something good going. Losing Rubio and Oubre is too much. Not that CP isn't worth that but they've broke something now that needs to be put back together in a different way and nobody knows if he and Booker are going to click well not. If anything, Bridges or Ayton maybe should have been part of a different move. They had Cameron Johnson filling their PF role before so maybe they can fix that error now with space for him at SF. Or maybe they won't. But people thinking CP did everything to elevate OKC last season weren't watching SGA close enough. Will that fit with Booker be the same or better, or worse?

Love is still on a rebuilding team and now Rubio is too. But I see Rubio doing really well there with SGA if he stays. Rubio, SGA, Oubre, Gallanari (if he stays), Adans. This roster is nothing to sniff at.

That's if he stays.
It wouldn’t surprise us if Rubio winds up being traded again at some point. Oklahoma City could opt to deal him to a contending team this year or next if they are able to get a decent return.
Maybe Rubio gets traded yet to Cleveland to play with Love. (until the trade deadline when their hearts are broken again)

What can I say, it's a fun word.

Not an unfair position to take tbh. I'd be lying if I said there wasn't some emotion driving any wish I have for a Rubio reunion.

I do agree that it's probably not the best thing for us (or probably him) at this stage.

He was best while here as a rookie with strange hair. Then he became this clean cut wussy for a spell. Get's traded and shows up in Utah looking like a different person, shooting like a different person. I think he cares less now what the fans, teams and communities think after that first trade and whatever he did to gain confidence in shooting I wouldn't change.

Ricky will always be my favourite player - I'll never forget when my boss stole my Rubio bobble head and took it on a world tour :) Good times

I wanted Ball but didn’t say the wolves would draft him

I said earlier today all signs point to Edwards

If that's the case, you didn't call Rubio. You wanted him to return.

You gotta feel for this guy.

He goes to Utah and they replace him with Mike Conley Jr and actually get worse.

He goes to Phoenix and they replace him with a Hall of Famer in CP3.

Maybe the best choice is to bring Ricky Rubio home.

Trade 17 and James Johnson to OKC for Rubio.

Trade 1 to Hornets for 3, 32, and Miles Bridges. Draft Onyeka at 3.

You saw my trade idea and you made a thread about it. That's OK

I'm happy so...

And I'm joking btw, who cares about who called first.

You've made so many predictions, especially for Gordon. A blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then. A broken clock is correct twice a day. You get the point.

Honestly surprised you're not on the Charlotte's board discussing Ball.
