I said I want more vets on this team that can play. Pat Bev is getting up there but he is still a rotation guy and he for sure brings intensity and on the floor leadership. I think that he can turn the heat up on DLO who is not a great defender but has shown that he can be solid (he had several solid defensive possessions last season).

I also think he can be good for the other guards like Ant, Beasley, Nowell. He can show them how you are supposed to defend and how to take that side of the ball seriously. He can be the adult in the room much like Rubio was last season. I hope we can bring in one more veteran guy in this vein, hopefully, a big.

As for Memphis, I like this deal for them too. They get rid of an aging player they don't really need at this point, they get two guys who can play right now and still have potential to be solid. Juancho has had flashes, he could put together a really good season next year, especially in a new setting. Culver's confidence has been shot but if he can ever get it together, he can be a pretty solid player. Optimal Culver may be something like 12 pts, 5 boards, and 3 dimes which would be a really good bench guy. HE still even has the potential to grow into a good starter.

I think it's a good low-risk gamble for Memphis.
When luck shuts the door skill comes in through the window.

We sure about this? I've heard the number of days shrunk because of the condensed offseason. Even still, it would be allowed before the season opener.

Beverley and Beasley are great fits in PHI, and after the wait to re-trade, would allow us to take back a contract of $36 mil or less. Simmons makes $31.6.

Surprise and so happy with this trade!

Culver was a clear failed call.

According to you we are going to do something in PF spot or the roster is done?

I'm guessing Finch concluded Culver is hopeless

We were trying to trade Culver for a second round draft pick and a bit of cap space, but teams had zero interest. Culver was definitely filler in this deal.

right, I remember seeing that rumor

I meant more that Finch concluded that about Culver in his short time with him, had to be tough pill for Rosas

Finch can weigh in but Rosas is the GM making that call.

I like the deal for the Wolves, but man are they going to be undersized this season. We had problems due to lack of size last year, and the roster as it stands now actually looks smaller. Towns, Reid, and Knight are the only bigs on the roster who weigh over 220 lbs.

That would be great news!

I hadn’t heard about a rule change, so I went looking and couldn’t find anything. Simmons-lovers would be thrilled to be able to aggregate salaries earlier. I am not so sure how long PHI can keep Simmons around, for his sake or the team’s.

I’d like to see us use the space under the lux to bring back Vanderbilt and sign Millsap. Supposedly he’s been frustrated because all he can get are vet min offers. Maybe Beverley and Millsap could help install some defensive culture to our young guys - an investment for this season and the future.

I'll admit that I thought about this.

A Beverley, Prince package would be amazing and seem to fill needs that Philly has. Two problems though with that because we can't trade Prince in a multi-player deal and we would still be over the luxury tax. Not sure how we can fill out our roster if we were to acquire Simmons

One other thought on the trade is that Beverley could help Wright develop since they have a very similar style of play. The ideal scenario would be for Wright to basically become Beverley in a year or two.

Our bench is looking pretty good

Bev, Beas, Prince, Vando, Reid

I really liked this move, yeah Beverly is kind of injury prone but if we keep this up we'll have a solid team before the opening night. If we could just get one solid big.

What bench would we have tho?

JMac, Nowell, Okogie, Prince, Vando, Reid??

It's really flimsy.

I really hope all this hasn't been to trade for Simmons.

And wouldn't Rubio and Beasley have been enough then?

If they needed Simmons lite Rubio is the definition of that.

Who facilitates the offense in PHI if Simmons is gone?

It dawns on me that I doubt the Beverley trade is official yet, and until then, he could be folded into a trade that brought in Simmons. Perhaps this is why Rosas is still in close contact with Morey about Simmons?

I like the thought, but my sense is Rosas already offered this as part of a three teamer and was turned down.

I can see where Doc and Morey would love Beverley, but Rosas also loves him. Would he trade Bev for Simmons? Yes! But he could also replace Russell as Minnesota's starting PG with Simmons/Edwards/Towns and either V8 or Jmac at PF.

Also, Beverley could just stay in Minnesota as a tone setter.

Our only chance to get Simmons is as a third team in which Philly gets a star. With Beasley, filler (either Prince or Bev), and multiple FRPs and pick swaps going out from us.

Philly has no use for what we have if we’re not moving Edwards, which we’re not. I guess Dlo/Beasley would be something they’d consider, but I don’t know we’d move DLo. Would we?

Love this trade! I suggested something basically along these lines in the trade thread a couple of days ago so was pleasantly surprised to see it come true. I think PatBev is the type of veteran presence this team needs, and brings a type of intensity we haven’t seen on the court since Jimmy Butler. Definitely consider this one a big win.

Good trade, Rosas...
Two useless players for a very needed kind of player.
