Go try in NO for Ingram or OKC for SGA , Philly will probably add assets as well.

What a good post! Clear and concise, and he adds an idea to help improve the trade!

Back when I started at RealGM many years ago, the board had a much different flavor. When someone would post a trade, we would all work collaboratively, giving our opinions on how to improve it. The goal was for all of us RealGM posters, wherever our team loyalties lie, would try to create the most realistic trade - perhaps even a trade that we might see happen in real life.

Since those times, the board has changed for the worst. Partisan fans pump up the value of the players on their own team, and insult players on other teams. Many posters think a one line response, “Nope” is a worthwhile contribution. Posters blur the line between the facts about an organization and their personal opinions. Many seem to think they are actual GM’s, and that if they lie and deceive some other internet poster into a bad deal, it somehow benefits their actual team.

When I saw Rastas post, it made me smile. I’m not surprised he’s been here since 2012.

76ers trading Simmons to somebody within next 72 hours.

It won’t go past any longer than next 72 hours.

Morey needs to choose between one of his offers with one of them being multiple team scenarios with Twolves.

I would guess it’s between Spurs, Twolves and Cavs. But however it goes this saga is ending soon.

Within next 72 hours…book it.

It’s impossible to predict this Simmons situation since it’s so unique, but we might hear about a trade in the next six hours. Media Day is tomorrow for PHI, and I could certainly see Embiid and Doc going to Morey and saying:

“Listen, we don’t want every question we hear to be about us throwing Ben under the bus! Look, your plan to get Lillard or Beal failed, and your plan to bring Ben back failed. Swallow your pride and take the best trade offer, and let’s get on with the season.”

Yep. The potential costs to keeping Simmons 3 more days to the potential gains by somehow magically believing his trade value will somehow go up a tad with a buyers frenzy here during training camp just isn’t worth it…not even close.

Simmons is traded by end of day Tuesday.

I do think a Simmons trade will either happen in the next few days or it will stall out until November. Once teams are a week or two into training camp they are less inclined to disrupt everything by bringing in a guy who would be far behind the rest of the team. At that point it makes a lot more sense to go into the season and see how the team performs. Trade talks can be revisited after a couple weeks of games when teams have a clearer picture of where things stand. From the Wolves perspective, 11 of their first 16 games are at home and getting off to a strong start is critical, so trying to integrate a new player late in camp or at the start of the season is far from ideal.

Derek Bodner (Sixers beat writer for The Athletic) on reasonable expectations for return on a Simmons trade: "I think the kind of package you’re looking at is a few picks, maybe a pick swap, a useful (but not star-level) player in return and salary-cap filler".

https://theathletic.com/2773658/2021/09/25/zach-harpers-76ers-offseason-report-overall-grade-roster-breakdown-goals-for-2021-22/

'1. What is the reasonable expectation for a return in a Ben Simmons trade?

There are two different ways to look at this. What’s a reasonable return for what Simmons is worth, and what’s a reasonable expectation for what he can get back in a trade right now, at this time of the year? The two are pretty far apart, which is why I think Daryl Morey and the Sixers are likely to try to call Simmons’ bluff on not reporting to camp and not settle for whatever they can get right now.

Earlier in the offseason, it was reported that Simmons only had a few select teams that he wanted to go to, but sources have told me that is not the case, and he has imposed no such trade restrictions on the Sixers. That would open things up quite a bit, as the teams who would be most interested in Simmons are rebuilding teams in non-glamour markets, which would value not only Simmons’ ability to raise their floor and help get them closer to playoff contention but also the fact that he is under contract for four more seasons.

Add that all together, and if the Sixers do have to trade Simmons in the next month or two, I think the kind of package you’re looking at is a few picks, maybe a pick swap, a useful (but not star-level) player in return and salary-cap filler, with the goal of packaging some of that stuff in a second deal closer to the deadline to ultimately get the player the Sixers want.'

If it’s Minnesota I expect McDaniels or Russell being the main “piece” of the package but if there’s a way where Minnesota can keep both and just give up picks it would be such a grand slam for the team. Especially with the 2024 potential cap jump being able to make keeping everyone together easier.
Rest in peace Mamba. There'll never be another Kobe.

Funny you should mention Atlanta because I always thought of them as the perfect third team to make the trade work. They have an interesting mix of young and old veteran players. Plus, my thought was always that an Eastern conference team would have the incentive to get Simmons out of the conference.

The most difficult part of that equation is that Philadelphia likely wants a PG. I don't think Atlanta is trading Trae Young....

I really think they have only one option - Cleveland who have two promising PG in Garland and Sexton.

PHI IN: Sexton, Prince, Layman, Favors
PHI OUT: Simmons
Why for PHI: get starting PG, two expiring contracts

CLE IN: Beasley, Okogie
CLE OUT: Love, Sexton
Why for CLE: get an elite shooter, get rid of Love contract

OKC IN: Love, MIN 2 FRPs
OKC OUT: Favors
Why for OKC: get more picks

MIN IN: Simmons
MIN OUT: Beasley, Prince, Layman, Okogie, 2 FRPs

I would disagree that Sexton or Garland are promising.

i think it's gonna be a 3 team trade b/w hou, philly and min. Philly Gets Wall, 1 unprotected+1 protected 1st from Min. Hou will get McDaniels, Maxey, Beasley, Prince and also a protected 1st from Min. And Min will get simmons and some filler from Hou. Wall fits Morey's mold of win now players. He was a superstar; and still capable making the allstar team if he teams up with embiid. 76ers will defly be a a top 3 team in the east with Wall.

If the Rockets could find a way to move Wall for expiring contracts while only giving up a couple protected 1sts it would be a major win.

I would want Wall in a heartbeat. It's just the contract that's a problem.

That's fair. At $15M/year Wall would be a guy a lot of teams would want. Unfortunately the $44M and $47M he makes the next two seasons makes him virtually untradeable.

If another team has a lot of salary to dump also it could work.

I still believe Simmons will be on the team for a while, maybe even into the season, definitely passed this week. We shall see. A part of me will be sad to see us not field our current team if we do trade for him, I think this team can make some noise.
