It isn't stupid. They are not trying to win, by the time they would be he will be up for UFA, so they can get a TON for him in the short-term...it isn't complicated.
Chill.
Perpetual rebuild, sounds like a great idea!
The idea of trading a 23 year old NBA star for draft picks in hopes of getting better is very poor management.
The idea of having him run out the reminder of his contract contrary to your aims and timeline only to get nothing or less than current value is very poor management.
I get you think they should try and cash in, doesn't sound like that is the plan.
They are looking to follow the proper path, draft, develop, growth, flexibility, supplement. Meaning you draft players, develop them, you stick with the winners, try and recoup value on the losers, the winners grow together, you add FAs or high cost players to your core before you pay your own players. OKC is going to be a powerhouse.

Nice to see that MGM gives us a 25% chance of getting him.

I think if the Spurs want him they can beat any team's realistic offer.

GS will get him, find out him and dray are terrible fits, flip him to us for ant and a top 3 protected 2022 pick, unprotected 2023 pick

Problem with SA is if you trade all of the young talented scorers for a guy who can’t score, then you just won’t score

I look at it this way ... 3 of the teams looking to acquire Simmons have titles (GSW, Raptors, Spurs) and one can assume they understand winning basketball. Now that don't mean they'd give what the 76'ers want, but they wouldn't be hanging around the hotdog stand if they knew it wouldn't taste good ...
My ultimate concern is this ... we do not have good team leadership (in terms of players), and we are pretty reliant on Finch IMO ... maybe that's all that really matters. IDK.

Those three teams are interesting
1. I'm not sure GS even wants Simmons and that contract. They are paying hundreds of millions of dollars in luxury tax and Wiggins may be movable next summer into space. Simmons is really expensive. Plus, they already have a player like Simmons. Does Simmons agent want him playing center. And if **** goes bad, no one is blaming Curry or Klay, they are blaming Simmons. I also can't see GS moving its young draft picks - they are cheap and look good.
2. The Spurs definately have a shot, but putting together a deal isn't that easy. Sure, they could trade White and Murray, but then who's the point guard. Most of their roster can't be traded until at least October and this Simmons deal looks to be made in the next few weeks. Plus, I think Johnson is off the board. And does Simmons want to go to a team that might be getting a new coach in 2022? He might not be as innovative as Pop.
3. The Raptors - will Morey trade Simmons to another EC team? Maybe, but most of the time, teams - especially playoff teams - like to trade stars to the other conference, so they don't meet up in the first round of the playoffs.

Re: Ben Simmons Thread (READ FIRST POST)
I don't think the Warriors will trade for Ben either. I think they are willing to sit on their asset pile and wait until the deadline when more disgruntled star options might become available.
Spurs are a weird case to me, I'm not exactly sure what they're trying to do. They do have some assets, but again I can't really get a good read on them.
Agreed with the point about Toronto being EC team. I'm not seeing any notable assets without FVV/Siakam and I don't see them trading either

According to me PHI after all this med report hasn t strong position in a trade. GSW and SAC are not so interested so...I would offer Prince Beverley/Beasley and picks...can work?

Or, if they understand winning, it costs them nothing to feign interest, and gum up the works for rivals.

Vegas must think the Warriors want him as they're making them the favorite to get him.

Warriors are feigning disinterest. I believe like Vegas bookmakers that they are very interested.

That would actually be hilarious. Talk about being lucky. I would legitimately find it very humorous if the Warriors have inflated Wiggins value so much he could be considered the centerpiece of this deal. The hype machine is an amazing thing. It would also be funny seeing Philly fans Stan Wiggins.
When luck shuts the door skill comes in through the window.

Re: Ben Simmons Thread (READ FIRST POST)
It’s all posturing. I think the Spurs, Warriors, and Kings are all very interested. Wiggins wouldn’t be the centerpiece, Kuminga, Wiseman, and Moody would be.
I could see something like:
Wiggins, Moody, Kuminga, and 2 protected Charlotte picks to the 76ers.
Wiseman to Charlotte
Simmons to GSW.
Would give 76ers young pieces/picks to flip if/when a star becomes available.
What’s sad is that I think Wiggins has equal or more value than DLo, which makes giving up the #7 pick hurt.

I believe Russell has more value than Wiggins and much more value to us. Wiggins just a terrible fit on the Wolves.

Agreed. Also want to point out that I very much doubt Ben Simmons would be open to a trade to Minny if DLO wasn't here

Would CHR really give two 1sts for Wiseman?
I mean if they would, we should be offering Naz, yesterday.

I happen to visit the GSW area. They asked whether they wanted Simmons, and 80% voted no.

Unsurprising.
Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
