Same. This is insanity that some are still upset and want rosas gone. Has dlo underwhelmed? Yea. He comes here and gets hurt. Then Karl hurts his wrist, then Covid, then Karl hurts his wrist again the third game in, then dlo gets hurt when Karl comes back. Then they win games they’re not supposed to at the end of the year with Karl ant and dlo all together for once.

Let’s see how the come out of the gates this year. The odds of finding any sort of difference maker at #7 in a 4 player draft is much higher than keeping Wiggins around and hoping that “this is the year” he breaks out.

The last 17 months since dlo has arrived have been anything but normal.

There's no doubt Minnesota gave up a lot in this trade. Let's not downplay losing the 36th pick either. Russell end up costing a lot. That being said if the goal of every NBA trade is to get the best player then I think Russell will still be the best player in the trade. I don't see Wiggins improving off last year, and I don't see anyone getting drafted at 7 or 36 being an all-star. GS got a haul, but I still think Russell remains the best player in that trade.

Great points. I'm probably more upset about the inclusion of #34 in this draft than I am about the protections on our FRP.

DLO has not shown it in a year and a half, another season of the same **** and it’s a failure.

Yes. I mean we could be looking at acquiring a pick but much more likely this interview took place before we lost our pick.

He wouldn’t have been in range of our pick if we kept it (top 3), so who knows?

I can see Minnesota looking to acquire picks from the Knicks, Thunder or Rockets. After the top five or six, I just don't see teams wanting multiple people from this draft.

Amen. You guys speak the truth and use common sense to back it up. "Common sense" seems to be lacking around her for some posters lately. Is Russell worth a Max deal? Heck no...but nobody here has ever tried to make that claim. Is Russell a better player/fit for the Wolves than Wiggins? Yes...and it's not even debatable. It's like some people intentionally forget just how horrible Wiggins is in order to help fit their narrative and support their complaints.

Is having our 2022 Unprotected FRP instead of #7 in the crappy Draft of 2021 better for the team? Of course it is...and to state otherwise is ignorant, dismissive and argumentative all in an effort to hate on Rosas. Gerson could've gotten better protections on our 2021 FRP but does it really matter? We're still better off with the Unprotected 2022 FRP and the trade value that comes with it than #7 in 2021. Rosas has shown a very acute eye for evaluating young players and that's the #1 attribute I want from our GM.

Will 2022 be the double draft? I'm still trying to figure that out.

Edit: According to this it appears that it will. But it's a very old report.

NBA, NBPA Reportedly Targeting 2022 Draft to End One-and-Done Rule
ADAM WELLS
APRIL 10, 2019

The NBA and the National Basketball Players Association have reportedly set their sights on 2022 as the target date to end the one-and-done rule.

Per ESPN.com's Adrian Wojnarowski and Jonathan Givony, the NBA and the players union have resumed talks in recent weeks in an attempt to change the league's minimum-age requirement to 18 years old before the 2022 draft.

Talks for changing the NBA's current one-and-done rule have been ongoing and, apparently, slow-moving to this point.

I did some further exploration of it and haven't found anything ruling it out or in.

I believe they’ve basically ended discussions about repealing the one and done rule for now. Here’s a mid-2020 article saying it might not be reopened until the 2025 CBA expires. I think the NBA likes having the g-league team with all the players straight out of HS. I also think GMs were not excited about scouting high school kids again. If it was going to be the 2022 draft, like originally speculated, we’d have heard a lot more by now.

Or was he thinking about trading down. Looking at the pre-draft line up, maybe #3 for Jonathan Isaac and #8?

Is Isaac still a thing? I think it's a big long shot that he will ever play meaningful NBA ball again.

You may be right, and I wouldn’t make that trade for MIN.

I just mention Isaac because I don’t see a player on teams in that 7-12 range that would even have the upside of being worth trading out of the top 3.

Minnesota HS player projected#1 in the next NBA draft. Did he sign with the Gophers?

1. CHET HOLMGREN, C, GONZAGA
Chet Holmgren

The phrase “unicorn” gets overused in basketball scouting circles, but Holmgren could be one of the better uses of the term. The No. 1 overall player in the 247Sports Composite is 7-feet tall, rail thin and is comfortable playing the offensive role of a guard. He can attack off the bounce, even against smaller players and is a deadly outside shooter. His defensive potential is off the charts, as he’s arguably the best shot-blocker in the class and has the fluidity to cover ground and challenge shots it wouldn’t seem like he’d be able to get to. Holmgren’s biggest question is his weight and strength, but that shouldn’t hold him back from a strong freshman year.

There is no way he ends up the number 1. Watched a few of his games...just don't see NBA level ... Not lotto anyway

Holmgren never even really considered MN even though his dad played here. He’ll go top five. Desperately needs weight but is so skilled on both ends and plays with edge/toughness. His game against Emoni Bates was epic.

Really? I watched him play against Hibbing and he was anything but an NBA player. He almost screams Big skinny European...like poku
