Tim Connelly has a vision. We've seen it. We've heard it. There was a clearly-defined role available, and Connelly pushed in all of his chips to get arguably the best fit available for that role. It's why multiple people have said the Timberwolves 'won the draft'. They weren't really saying that about the Culver or Dunn picks.
Obviously, things still have the potential to go wrong, winforlose is absolutely correct about that. But that is always the case in any situation in life.
All I am saying is the hype can be right or wrong. Nowell was a great shooter who lost his deep shot. Butler was an afterthought who turned into a superstar. Lauri Markkanen was an average role player on bad teams and is now the hottest trade commodity in the NBA. We won’t know what we have in Dilly for some time (honestly proper evaluation of young players takes years as you account for growth between seasons.) Hype is great, but it is just hype until it isn’t.
I agree.
It’s going to take some basketball games to prove you wrong.
One thing that’s interesting:
Connelly and Finch have said they’re ready to play Dilly right away. Is that hype? I think that’s stronger than hype when it comes from the GM and coach of a very strong team. That’s endorsement. Not hype.
We had an awful team with Dunn and Culver and coaches weren’t talking like that.
