Real GM basketball has an article saying the will match, and have no intention of trading him.

Would that take the Suns out of consideration for Durant?

Probably. The Nets have been asking such a high price I doubt it matters. My guess is that the Nets are making a show of trying to trade him while poisoning the market. That way Durant has to stay and play and won’t cause as much trouble as if they said no. He could ask them to lower their price, but with the Gobert deal they have cover. Also if a DM for 5 picks to NYK happens they will have even more cover. Durant likely stays put this year.

Boston has a 17.1 million TPE expiring at midnight. Could be a move today.

I have been reading, watching reddit / realgm / youtube about latest NBA news. And then I suddenly realized that for many years I find not interesting when fans discuss why Wembanyama is the next Unicorn, or whether Chet can add 15-20lbs or whether Bolmaro can hit open 3s. I mean yeah, I watch Minott, Moore highlights, but for the first time regular season is the most interesting time.

You guys have got to read this https://www.yahoo.com/sports/nba-fines-golden-state-warriors-co-owner-joe-lacob-500000-after-calling-luxury-tax-system-unfair-011742179.html

The audacity is unreal. He actually says they are only 40 million over the tax line. Imagine what Boston would have done with 40 million over the tax line, or Dallas. GSW owner is outside his damn mind.

“ The truth is, we’re only $40 million more than the luxury tax. Now, that’s not small but it’s not a massive number. We’re $200 million over in total because most of that is this incredible penal luxury tax. And what I consider to be unfair and I’m going to say it on this podcast and I hope it gets back to whoever is listening … and obviously it’s self-serving for me to say this, but I think it’s a very unfair system because our team is built by — all top eight players are all drafted by this team.”

Guess he forgot Wiggins was drafted by Cleveland and traded to us before playing a single game. Guess he forgot stealing Durant from OKC and then using him to scoop Dlo out from under us for Wiggins and Kuminga. Guess he forgot the fact that most teams cannot or will not even go into the tax and 40 million is essentially a super max. The only thing he got right is that people (myself included) do think they bought a title. Worse, everyone is going huge money because it is the only way to compete. My god the Clippers are just under 200 million and will likely go over this year. God Damn ******** broke the whole league, and is bitching about having to pay for it.

Can someone please explain the Pacers’ strategy to me? You trade Sabonis for Haliburton and declare you intend to try and make the playoffs. Then, the next offseason you lose T.J Warren, dump Brogdon, and now try and dump Hield and Turner for 27 and 29 unprotected firsts. What is the value of Haliburton on a rebuilding team when the rebuild is at least 3-4 years out and without significant additional picks?

Didn’t he accidentally bite David Lee and give him a staph infection?

Not really. Last season roster built around Sabas, Turner and Brogdon reached his potential. IND have not been tanking for years, always playing around playoff level. They have been doing this soft rebuild many times during last years. You can easily see why they think that Hali is their PG or future. They were willing to pay Ayton, and you can easily see why Ayton-Hali duo could be very well axis for IND.
