Re: Butler has requested a trade part III Practice
If it is true that Butler was late for that practice, then skipped drills, took 3rd stringer beat starters and left, then it changes everything. Anyway, he will have plenty of opportunity in two weeks to show that he is a team player and cares about winning. Also I dont think that it makes much sense to trade him right now, because his value is lowest.
P.S. Who knows maybe this "player meeting" was only about former Bulls player and Butler invited Rose, Gibson and Deng. Obviously Teague did not know about it.

His value isnt going to get any higher the longer this goes into the season. If it gets to the trade deadline Miami arent going to trade assets away if he will just sign here once he opts out. If he wants to be in Miami no other team is going to offer you much for a half season of Butler.

Except that Miami don't have the room to sign him in the offseason, which is why they're trying to trade for him.

Re: Butler has requested a trade part III Practice
First of all sorry for my english i'm Greek.
Lets see some things here.
Butler ask for a trade and not only that but he demands where and when.
The trade is not happening so he decides to return to practice but before that he calls an espn reporter to be ready for an interview after practice.
We all know few things (not all) that happened there and after he went for the interview.
There he told us.
1) What happened there was an emotional break.
2) Wiggins and Kat are soft
3)He cares about winning.
Now maybe what he said is true but the reason why is my problem.
1) Yes maybe this was an emotional break out but he knew this is going to happened thats why he called for the interview before this so people heared why he did it.
2) Yes maybe Wiggings and Kat are little soft but the reason he told us that is that he knew that many or even most of the basketball fans will agree with him...but wait.
Why he cares about them and he wants to make them better?
We already know that they are not friends but the opposite, we also know that he wants to leave from there so those two will be playing against him so why he cares to make them better? He played with them for a year and now that he is going to leave cares about 2 players that he hates?
Money is the reason and his problem is that they get paid and he was not. Yes he maybe don't like that they gave Wiggins a max contract and i believe even most of the Wolves fans don't like that contract and that they would love to keep you and not him but this happened last year, this was a big mistake but they can't do nothing about it right now so stop **** crying, they did not choose Wiggins over you.
3) If he cares about winning then why all the teams he wanted to trade at have cap space to offer him the max and not Houston for example? He can even win the championship there even if he stays for only a year.
The truth is that off course he wants to win like all the players do and even more cause the truth is he is a fighter but the most important for him is to get the 5 years 190 mils contract, thats it.
If he didn't care about the 5 years contract i believe staying with Wolves and playing with players that now he calls "soft" would never be a problem.
I don't know what i do if i'm the Wolves but i prefer to keep him even if he is sitting than to trade him for nothing and i don't give a **** what Woj and the media are saying.
You must teach him a lesson and all the players who think like him.

^^ I might be mistaken, but it looks like Butler also wanted to get this contract one year earlier, because he understands that it might be too risky to wait next offseason if he can get injured.

How dare Thibodeau ask for more when Pat Riley is granting him the privilege to pay Dion Weighters?
You guys really gotta reign that guy in. Pat Riley can't fleece people like that.
The Minnesota Timberwolves and Miami Heat had basically agreed to a trade of Jimmy Butler for Josh Richardson, Dion Waiters and a protected first round pick.
The deal progressed to point of the two teams exchanging medical information, but Tom Thibodeau called the Heat back and asked for additional assets.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

"I don't know of any player that, when the shot goes up, he doesn't want it to go in," Donovan said

Re: Butler has requested a trade part III Practice
Wiggins + Dieng for Batum + Zeller
Does this trade make Butler extremely happy to when Thibs keeps him all season (no Butler trade), Wolves are only team who can pay Butler the most money, and he stays???
It should, more money, trading a player he doesn't like, trading 1 of the 2 soft players -- slapping Towns across face saying "no one is untouchable," and says to team "look at how important Butler is, rather than trade him we traded Wiggins because of Butler."
This trade leaves the Wolves in a better situation. Batum could help keep Butler wear-n-tear down by actually playing D on the wing (guarding others teams best wing player). And Zeller is a better fit as a stretch big -- he should be better than Gibson and a long term solution at the 4.
Worst case Butler still bolts -- but after leading Wolves team to playoffs again and leaving ton of money on the table. And of course, Wiggins blows up in Charlotte (had a tough time writing that sentence without laughing).

Wiggins, Dieng for Crabbe, Carroll gets things done. Resign Butler next year. The only thing that I am not sure, if we re-sign Butler and fire Thibs/Layden, who could as HC control him? I have no idea.

No way Nets do that trade. They finally got themselves into a good cap situation in New York to recruit premium free agents. They aren't trading that for Wiggins and Dieng. I would venture they would barely add much sweetener if that was the bones of a Butler trade.

They had already agreed to a deal and were proceeding to the next steps... And then Thibs changes his mind and asks for more? That has to be pretty annoying if you're Pat Riley to have your time wasted like that.

I might be wrong, but it will be difficult for BRO to find any premium FA.

BRO might find it difficult to secure that premium FA, but they are not giving up that opportunity to try and try again for Wiggins and Dieng.

His trade value will remain high because only a few teams will be able to acquire him outright and these teams will be looking to make a move on more than just one NBA Allstar. Don't believe the hype, Butler wants the max he can get on the market. It's goes beyond just the money, it's about the status and we all know by now, that he is a full blown DIVA!
The tread deadline or even the offseason would be the best time for the Wolves to hit the reset button. I think we're going to go as far as we can with this current team and then REHAB, to REBUILD. If the Wolves are not in prime playoff position come the trade deadline, you can position yourself pretty good with the contracts of Butler, Gibson, Deng, and Rose at the deadline as veteran help on a playoff team and maybe unload Teague and Dieng in the process. I was watching Chris Carter on some sport show and he made an interesting point. You're already committed to Towns and Wiggins with the contract you gave them. Now is the time to build around them. Towns and Wiggins are offensive minded players, so our focus should be surrounding them with defensive minded players. You have one already in Okogie at SG, now we need to find an athletic PF or C (Adebayo anybody) to pair with towns. We may have it on the roster already if we can get Patton healthy.
In summary, let's just go wherever this season is going to take us and make those decision down the road. Either way, having Butler's Bird Rights will keep us in prime position to trade him for value in some form.

So Thibs took away Pattie's binkie and then he went into a fit because poor Riley didn't get his way? Just **** off already, Pat...it's inconceivable to me that he hasn't gotten more flack from Heat fans and around the NBA for what he did to that roster. Easily the worst overall collection of marginal talent on crappy deals in the league. Yet, it's Thibs' fault for not wanting to make a crappy deal that helps him land a Top 15 player and help them start to get out of the cap hell that Riley created for himself? Riley is a bigger egocentric douchebag than I thought.
Glen Taylor: "Is this moron #1 (Layden)? Put moron #2 (Thibs) on the phone."

Riley hung up on Thibs??
... True or not, that's a classic story!! Thank goodness we did not do that deal with Dion as the filler and a measly "protected" FRP as the sweetner.
I'm still not sure what to think about all this, but I do believe Butler is right in his assessment of Wiggins/Kat lack of will, but his issues with his own contract & the tact he has used are not good to say the least. I have serious trust issues with media reports and accuracy due to sources often being unnamed/agents, etc. trying to leverage and influence agendas ...

That is speculation. No proof. In the end it didn't matter. Taylor rejected the deal.

Depending on the protection we may have never got that FRP. Heat can't trade FRP in 20-21-22.

Not here there isn't, have seen this POS franchises history? Other than KG, just a bunch of boy scouts that went to the lottery every year. I don't care if they hate eachother, just win.
And if they don’t win? What if this chaos becomes an even bigger distraction?
If they don't win isn't what you should be asking, thats the norm for the franchise.
If they win is what this is about.

Oh and Stephan A Smith was just on ESPN, said he has talked to Butler multiple times and wont go into detail but he flat out wants to be off the wolves. I have thought for a long time this isn't just a money thing or a players thing, I really do think he just wants to be in another town, probably one with more spark for him. I also don't think he particularly likes how we are run/play. He just doesn't want to say that and look like a massive douche so they are spinning this "they didn't take care of me, and no one wants to work hard" narrative.
Tough luck for him, he will be playing here this year
