Randle is a mediocre, expensive, and not on ANT’s timeline. But most importantly, he’s a poor shooter (outside one outlier season). Unless we’re moving Rudy too, the PF has to at least shooter upside.

If ANT has to try to drive into the paint with both Randle’s and Rudy’s (and maybe McDaniel’s if he doesn’t improve) guys just standing there, he will ask out sooner than any of us think.

I think a trade would likely bring us someone younger, but it might not be a power forward as Towns' direct replacement. It's all about where the value in each offer comes through.

I don't think this trade concept would work without a third team, but one guy who I think would provide us a Target-value Towns could be Jerami Grant. I know everyone talks about him valuing individual role/shots over team success, but that was when he was essentially in a Naz Reid role off the bench for Denver. A lot of people expected Reid to do the same thing, so I'm not sure he should be faulted for that when it's essentially human nature.

Who are you thinking about? Evan Mobley?

He'd be perfect.

But Cleveland would laugh and hang up on us...

The Knicks are SO much better without him.

What would it take to get DeJounte Murray? He's someone that I could see fitting in well next to Ant.

Mobley looks as passive as I remember at USC , especially offensively. He will never be an all star even in the East. Most cleveland fans are worried they will be paying the max to both Mobley and Garland.

I'm about to get kicked off this site.
T. Young for KAT
Young 5 years younger and $10-13 cheaper/year.
No defense but we have plenty and apparently not enough offense. Need a PG.
Young-NAW-Ant-Jaden-Rudy
Naz stays 6th man but adds minutes.
I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy.

I’d probably do it, can we ship out Moore jr also , and get a pick swap lol?

Better fit and more valuable to us:

Murray or Young?

Young is a better passer and Murray slightly better defensively but that’s not saying much.
I think with Murray we can get more back, maybe the first or Johnson? Also he’s way cheaper and signed for longer so saying all that he might be my pick.

Gross.

Horrible defender. Turnover machine. Good, but not great shooter. And Atlanta is better when he doesn’t play.

Ditto. I can see Young being double teamed in playoffs and beaten in defense

Can Tim Connelly fulfil Rosas dream?

https://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/275735/Darius-Garland-Could-Seek-Trade-From-Cavs-If-Donovan-Mitchell-Extends

CLE IN: Towns
CLE OUT: Garland, Allen

Towns/Mobley
Mobley/Niang
Struss/Wade
Mitchell/Merrill
LeVert/Porter

Why for CLE: get a superstar trio Towns-Mobley-Mitchell that on paper compliment each-other well

MIA IN: Allen, Moore
MIA OUT: Robinson, swap picks with MIN 2024 (27th)

Why for MIA: get a true big

MIN IN: Garland, Robinson, swap picks with MIA 2024 (15th)
MIN OUT: Towns, Moore

Why for MIN: get A LOT of shooting and passing around Gobert and Edwards. Draft Tristan Da Silva or Tyler Smith

Gobert/Reid/Garza
Reid/Da Silva/Miller
McDaniels/Robinson/Minott
Edwards/NAW/Clarke
Garland/Conley/Morris

What about Markannen from the Jazz? good player, good 3 points shooter, cheaper than KAT but really good player. He will fit well with ANT and Mike.

How do you get him without trading KAT?

Why would Utah tank their rebuild with KAT's salary?

(I don’t know why I see “T. Young” and my first thought is “Thad!”)

That trade doesn’t get you kicked off the site, and it’s a fairly popular one with non-Wolves fans. However, I’m not a fan at all.

First, I think we all agree that this is Ant’s team going forward, and Trae is only maximized with the ball in his hands. Ant’s next big development stage is as a playmaker, and Trae is not nearly as valuable off ball, and likely to demand a trade.

Defensively,Trae has been statistically the worst player on the NBA for several years in his career, and the Wolves identity is defense. Rudy had to listen for years how he was “exposed” in the playoffs, and couldn’t guard 1-on-1 in the open court. More accurately, he couldn’t guard 1-on-5, with so many weak perimeter defenders allowing their man to come at him with a full head of steam. I can’t imagine he’d be happy to have an even worse defender as his starting PG.

As an aside, I’d mention that I like keeping Naz as a sixth man, but I don’t like skinny, Jaden McDaniels playing the 4. As I’ve said, I don’t expect a Towns trade, but if one happens, perhaps Connelly and Finch would want a replacement starting 4 in the deal?

I 100% agree with everything Shrink says here. I think the PG you’re putting next to Ant in the future is someone who plays strong D, makes high BBIQ plays/passes, and knocks down catch/shoot jumpers at a high rate. Similar to what OKC is thinking with grooming Cason Wallace to play next to SGA.

Young is a horrible fit. I also agree that a KAT trade will probably bring in a young PF.

It seems that the bulls wont offer qualifying offer to Patrick Williams...How many $ is he seeking? He could take Kyle role..two different players but at least PW can shot from 3
