Re: ALL RUBIO TALK HERE
As a matter of rights, you are absolutely correct that Ricky is yours. I just feel bad that if Ricky really did stick to his declaration of staying in Spain, lest he be traded (who knows if he is demanding a trade), then your GM will have to get value for his rights, and the sooner he does it the more valuable the return will be.
Sorry if thats not an original enough thought. I understand this must be a painful situation as a fan and I really do hope that you get the most out of this situation. I also think that Rubio, while a sensational player, is acting like a complete a-hole in doing this to you guys. If some of you don't like to hear that, then you should probably stay away from all Rubio-related threads.

As has been mentioned, its Assburner, for Minnesota "journalist" who loves to bash the Wolves. He's a tool.

Seriously, don't be so sensitive. If you don't like people coming here to share their opinion on the matter then lock the thread.
Seriously, take a minute to read the thread and see what has already been posted 300 times.
-He's hoping for a trade to a big market
-His mom doesnt like cold weather
-He might just stay in Spain
-Wolves will probably trade him for nickels on the dollar
If you're not posting anything original you're really not posting anything of value.
Here is an original thought that you will love...
Ricky Rubio is coming to play for the T-Wolves!! He thinks its a great idea to play alongside another rookie PG!! He loves the coaching staff!! He knows that Kahn is a prodigy genius GM, drafting dozens of PG's!! He thinks Minnesota is an ideal place to be after being on Mediterranean beaches filled with topless women his whole life!!
Is that better?

Seriously, what do you guys expect people to tell you?

Re: ALL RUBIO TALK HERE
No that's actually just as stupid.
If you really have the hard-on to talk all things Rubio, how about commenting on facts that have been stating, not just assuming because of an anti-Wolves, or pro-big market agenda.
Otherwise you sound like the 50 Knicks homers that flooded the board on draft night and the day after. I realize you're not a Knicks fan, but you sound no different.

How about nothing? Is nothing an option? As in, let's allow the situation to play out and then comment, rather than having fans from all over the place - with no real insight other than the ability to regurgitate what 300 others have said previously - speculating about how Rubio will be sold for nickels on the dollar.
Does that work for you champ?

Everyone here is on edge now because of all the Knick posters trying to sell Wilson Chandler for Rubio. It's just not a good time to have a reasoned debate on this subject.

So basically you are trying to stifle people from coming here and posting opinions that you don't like.
Sounds incredibly fascist. And seeing that I hate fascism and having people try to tell me what to do, no, it doesn't work for me to be told to basically shut up and go away. So you should think of a new strategy if hearing my opinion on the matter bugs you so much.
All of this due to one post. Unbelievable.

How about simply you have not done your homework and what you are stating is bogus. There is an interview that Rubio just had in Spain stating that he will not sign with any other euro teams so your notion that he will play for R. Madrid or somewhere else is false. He has not stated ONCE that he does not want to play here, so your assumptions of him not wanting to because he lived in the Mediteranian is just that, assumptions. The problem is your comments and attitude come off as you know its as the truth.
You come here and assume that we are really going to listen to you and pat your back because of your analysis when all actuallity it came down to you most likely reading an ESPN article, Yahoo article or watching the PTI boys and thinking you know the situation very well. Majority of us, have read every possible interview and play by play of this. Then whe one someone, like yourself, makes comments that are assumptions and try to pawn it off as fact they just come off as a complete tool.

He would have stated that openly by now or prior to the draft. Also you been watching the NBA the last few years when has NY been good or even warm?

You dont seem to be getting the point....we have a problem with you posting the same "opinion" we've seen over and over and over again. It's not so much an opinion as a regurgitation. But if it makes you feel any better, here you go:
Ok so you think Rubio wants to play in a big market, dislikes MN because it's cold, might stay overseas next season, and will wind up being traded with the Wolves getting nickels on the dollar? FASCINATING! Thank you SO much for that incredible insight! I can't speak for other Wolves fans but I for one feel so much more enlightened now. I dont know who your sources are, but kudos to you sir for providing this breaking news! We've been waiting on the edge of our seats for that valuable outsiders' opinion.
There, does that make you feel better? I mean, what do you expect us to say to the same comments over and over again?

Aha...so this whole ordeal with Rubio is actually nothing at all. I didn't realize. So wrong of me to assume that he had a problem playing in Minnesota.
I've only been following the situation since April, stating my opinions regularly on the draft board and watching things work out as I said they would (although without Ricky being so inconsiderate as to enter the draft and then turn his back on the team that picked him).
And I guess this most recent article with plenty of quotes is just me using (or should it be referred to as regurgitating?) "biased, big city sources" that hate Minnesota.
The day before the NBA draft, Ricky Rubio played word association.
I said "Sacramento," and he said "Nice weather."
I said "Oklahoma City," and he said "My best friend lives near there."
I said "Minnesota," and he said "Too cold."
It was fairly meaningless. Watch it on video, and you'll see it was a throwaway line.
Now that sentiment is emerging as something of a major theme of draft night. Does Ricky Rubio hate Minnesota?
When the fifth pick of the NBA draft was announced, Minnesota fans went crazy. They had the their dream player. But the relationship quickly began to feel like unrequited love.
Shortly after the pick, Rubio met the media. At a moment like that, tradition, public relations sense, and just about everything else dictate smiling and saying how much you love your new city -- even if you can't wait to demand a trade.
But the 18-year-old Spaniard was not playing that game. "Are you excited to go to Minnesota?" he was asked.
It was a fair question. It's a team with quality big men, and a mandate for change. What more could a young point guard want? "I'm excited," he responded, "to come to the NBA."
He said his mother hated cold weather.
He was asked about whether being picked by the T-Wolves might inspire him to stay in Europe. He said: "I don't know yet. I have to think about that ... I'm going to talk to my agent about that and we're going to see."
He also said he was very surprised that the team had drafted another point guard in Jonny Flynn. He evaded a question about whether or not he'd even come to the NBA -- until the very end of the meeting with reporters when he threw in a line saying "I want to play basketball, and if they give me minutes, I'm going to come."
Just minutes later, his father was quoted in the Spanish newspaper Marca saying it was probable Rubio would not come to the NBA this year. Translated, he said: "He might go now or he might remain [in Europe] one more year ... or even two. It's all open, although the most likely scenario is that he stays in Europe more time. We have to talk with the folks in Minnesota... and see what happens, because, at this point, we can go to Minnesota or otherwise."

LOL @ that. Aschburner's always gotta beef here. About the only negative about Minnesota is the month or two when it is, admittedly, VERY cold. I don't think just being cold for a period of time warrants the LAST place in the list lol. I'm not gonna act like we're more attractive than LA, Miami, or even New York, but last is insane, seriously. I've been to a lot of cities in America, and I'd definitely rank the Twin Cities in the middle at least, 16th or so. But for all the attractiveness a place like New York allegedly has, why aren't they having any success. Meanwhile, a place like Utah, 24th on the list, seemingly is always in the mix. Obviously it doesn't matter how "attractive" the site is, it's all about the people in the organization.

Assburner is an idiot. Look who he chose as his 'evidence' - Marbury and Rider. Two of the biggest punks and headcases in league history.
Yup. He gets a call-up, and he can't stop writing disses at MIN.
He fails to mention that we've had a harder time with players that get here, and don't want to leave/demand extensions. Or that we've never had more than the MLE to offer, so we don't know what kind of free agent destination MIN is.
Is Ashy from MN, or did he just land at the Pioneer Press as an outsider for a period of time?

Never said it is nothing, but you are just making assumptions which you are stating are facts.
If you have been following his situation since April please find me an article in which he states prior to the draft where he wants to play. Before and after the draft he has stated he wants to be in the NBA, not a specific team.
That is not a recent article, it is 4 days old. Since then there have been multiple interviews and so on. Lastly, in that interview I would honestly expect an 18 year old from Spain to comment "too cold." I would not expect him to know much else at this time.

Re: ALL RUBIO TALK HERE
All this talk is just time filler, because this whole situation is depending on what happens with his buy-out.
That is why we hear no news, because there is no news until we know what Rubio's status is with his other team. Kahn stopped talking to the media, Rubio stopped talking to the media. Kahn told us to be pacient. That's all we can do is wait for news on the buy-out, barring any inside information we have to wait. Problem is, I don't think there is any information to have. Everyone from Knicks fans to Wolves fans to Lakers fans are overreacting. Rubio still needs to meet with the Wolves, so how can anyone know if he doesn't want to play for us. He doesn't even know the situation in MN and I doubt he's that nieve that he will just make a decition without the facts.
You wanna know what Kahn's plan is?
To not pressure Rubio and support him. That's how he is going to convince Rubio to come over, by being reasonable and respectful of his situation, which btw is unpressidented in the NBA.
The real question is will Rubio recognize that Kahn is being a good person while Rubio is going through adversity? I am hopeful that it's a yes.
