Just veteran minimum or Room MLE are all that is left.

If Shrink says it is so, then it is so.

This is what I have:

17.59 Teague
17.55 Butler
14.11 Dieng
13.66 Taj Gibson
7.57 Wiggins
7.30 Aldrich
6.22 Towns
3.95 Bjelica
2.25 Patton
1.47 Tyus Jones
1.36 Kevin Martin (stretched)
---------
93.03 Guaranteed Salary
1.68 3 roster cap holds of $0.56
---------
94.71 Total

99.09 Salary Cap
----------------------------
4.38 Cap Space

4.33 Room Exception

http://www.spotrac.com/nba/minnesota-timberwolves/cap/

Now we might find out later that these numbers are wrong, or incomplete. NBA contracts are private, between player, team, and the nba front office. This is especially true of the new contracts, and as I mentioned in another thread, these numbers take into account raises (and perhaps incorrectly!). But this is the numbers I'm going with right now, until we get better info.

Do Towns and Wiggins have social media star girlfriends?
Swaggy P probably hates social media, but loves girlfriends, so I don't know ...?

I think the guy is a clown and a show off, but I have to give him credit. He was on a bad contract, but by improving his play, he was actually worth the money. We could use his skill-set, but I would be happier if we found a different player that could do it.

We're bringing in all these hard nose guys to tutor Wiggins and Towns, but then we're interested in Nick Young? I don't get it at all.

We shouldn't get too excited about his #s last season either. It was a contract year for him and the year prior to last he was the #77 ranked sg according to RPM.

Gerald Green would be a better fit than Swaggy P but Swaggy P does have a better 3PT%. I don't know if we can get CJ Miles with just a room exception.

The Roster Charge Figure under the new CBA is 815,615
Butler's trade kicker, which he did not waive, increased his salary to 19,301,070
If Teague is 3/57 it wouldn't make sense for the Wolves to escalate him since Wiggins and Towns huge increases are on the horizon. If anything he'd be an even 19/19/19.

19,301,070 Butler
19,000,000 Teague
14,112,360 Dieng
13,66 Taj Gibson
7,574,323 Wiggins
7,300,000 Aldrich
6,216,840 Towns
3,949,999 Bjelica
2,247,480 Patton
1,471,382 Jones
1,360,305 (Martin Stretched)
815,615 Empty Roster Charge
815,615 Empty Roster Charge

Total is $97,824,992

It seems that the difference between 99,093,000 ad 97,824,992 is 1,268,008 but that would be useless since any veteran would get more than that if he had 1 years experience in the league. If anything, they start Teague higher to lessen his impact the following 2 years.

I keep thinking that James Young and Jordan Mickey are pretty good fits here at minimum contracts if used right.

Mickey shot well from distance in the D league. Dominated there.

I just checked his D league stats. Dominated is an understatement. Holy Cow!!! 4.4 Blocks per game.
Is he FA now? I would be all over that for minimum contract.

It'd been assumed he will get cut to create more cap room by the Celtics. We'll see. Just a guy to keep an eye on.

Hopefully if we get him he isn't the equivalent of a AAAA baseball talent. A guy who dominates the minors, but doesn't have what it takes for the Majors.

Couple questions for you guys who understand the Cap:

1) Why not just go over the cap, Taylor has got the dough?

2) When Wiggins extension kicks in, not this basketball year but the following, with the add of Gibson and Teague wouldnt we be over the Cap the following year? I know it goes up a little bit, But Wiggs extension has to blow the lid off the barrel doesnt it?

Whats your guys guess on how much Bazz gets? Im guessing someone is going to nab him for 4 years 25-30 million.

You can't just go over the cap. You can do that to sign your own guys, but not to claim FAs from other teams. In a trade you can go 25% over what you are sending out so there is a little leeway.

The new rules let you be within 50% on a trade.

Once the Wolves are actually over the cap, they become eligible for the Non-Taxpayer MLE ($8.4 Million) AND can also use the Bi-Annual Exception. They may actually hit that because once they sign Teague and Gibson, and then add a minimum player, they will (probably) be over the cap but below the luxury tax. I'm figuring they start Teague out at just over 20 million to lessen his salary in subsequent years. Teague and Gibson can get around $33,86 between them this season. I suspect that the Wolves use it all so Teague is decreasing over the next two years. So then, if they add a minimum player or two, they are actually over the cap and they may become eligible for the Non-Taxpayer MLE of $8.4 million versus the Room MLE of $4.328 million.

Agreed. Aldrich is on a reasonable contract. It doesn't make sense for us to add a 1st just to dump his contract.

I don't really understand. A rotation wing is clearly more important than a non-rotation big. I think if we want a competitive team this year we need to fill in the holes.

We don't need to fill all the holes in July though. As soon as you sign a free agent with cap space they begin to lose value. It's like driving a new car off the lot.
