A deal for him would even be detrimental for the team. Simmons is no good without the ball in his hands and cant shoot.

And you guys want to get another ball hog like D-Lo who is taking the ball out of Edwards hands? LOL.

It seems to me, if either team starts slowly, that they would be even less likely to trade their youth.

I don't know if we would ever offer Edwards (well unless he has a disastrous season). but I think the logic is sound. If any team that is after Ben is looking like a hot mess the urgency to get him probably goes up. Particularly a team like us or Sac who are looking to win.

The also can be said for Philly, I think they will still be good but if they are getting destroyed every night and its looking like a lost season, they will probably be a lot more willing to talk a deal.

I think the landscape can drastically change after a month or two into the season and I think that is what Morey is banking on at this point unless a deal he really likes come along first.

MIN’s and SAC’s best players are still very young. I think even if they say they want to win now, they would abandon that pathway quickly, and focus on development. I suspect SAC would try to trade vets like Harrison Barnes rather than go back and put Fox or Haliburton on the table,

I don't see us trading Ant under any circumstances, but I don't think we'd lose interest in Simmons if we started off slow.

I think that any Simmons trade is now unlikely in the near future. Teams are starting games and will be focused on their current rosters, so I don't see anybody pushing for a Simmons trade or improving on any offers that had been on the table. My guess is the only way a deal gets done in the next 6-8 weeks would be if Simmons can find enough pressure points to force the issue, like Butler and Harden did in recent years. I am kind of interested to see what the next move from the Simmons camp will be, will he truly go nuclear or will he just sit at home.

I think the interesting question is: Would we lose interest in Simmons if we start strong and if the whole team looks way better defensively?
Would Gupta dare to disrupt a clicking team?

Or we quickly discover we are going nowhere and desperately offer even more than what we ever intended…..?

Or shift trade focus elsewhere. Most likely to a not as expensive upgrade to acquire.

Gupta’s in a tough spot. While he now is the top ranking basketball guy, he didn’t even get a promotion in title. He’s still the VP of BB operations. He essentially is on a one year trial. If the team starts out 6-9, what is he going to do to try and show he is worthy of the president job? Are small moves on the margins that get us in contention for the play-in game enough?

What are the chances of a Kyrie for Ben Simmons trade? If Kyrie keeps this up the Nets should trade him and probably will.

Sounds like the deals is Levert and Brogdon for Simmons.

That's fine with me. Tired of this drama. Either them of Kyrie Irving. I would be fine with watching the carnage, but with the Wolves linked to the trade it gets old. Probably does for the Timberwolves players as well.

Quite the deviation from Morey's original valuation of Simmons.

Would be shocked if Morey took this deal now. Would kill any chance of acquiring even an all star (forget getting a superstar). While solid guys, limited upside and really really injury prone.

That said, if this happened, have to go all in on acquiring Sabonis. He doesn’t fit with Simmons at all. And while the defensive fit wouldn’t be idea here, he’d cure the rebounding issues and the offense would be elite.

Agree completely…I’m a big fan of Sabonis. I’ll be vilified for saying this but I’d offer the same package for him as I would for Simmons.

IF they do this deal I was take the L I don't think that's an offer that makes them better or even as good but I'd have to look at it harder. My thoughts are Simmons only gets traded in a deal that can help the Sixers win now and Morey will wait for it to materialize and that could be after the start of the season.
