Re: 2024 Free Agency
Orlando Robinson just got waived. Anyone who is more knowledgeable than me have an opinion of him as a possible replacement to Jessie Edwards on a two way? Or even as a 15th man on the roster if we want to develop him as C2 and focus on getting a PG in trade.

I don’t know the other two, but I’ve been keeping an eye on Bruno Fernando for about a week now, when it became obvious the Raptors would likely alive him before the deadline on 1/7. To me, he looks like an NBA player right now, but you guys probably know more about him than than I would

Sign me up for Bruno Fernando.
This team could use some interior toughness off the bench and if Gobert gets hurt we will be desperate for a rebounder.

At this point we should just put Joe Ingles in pom poms and a skirt.
Disappointing signing with the way he helped Orlando last year.

I was asking the former. I wasn’t sure if at a certain point (years of service,) you couldn’t offer fully non guaranteed deals. As for needing him to get a million, that felt like TC doing him a favor. An expensive favor at that given that it cost someone else (whoever wins the ownership fight,) 5.75 million.
That signing was head scratching from the start.
It not only cost us 5.75 million for a handful of games of garbage time, we gave up a high 2nd round pick to dump Moore's 2.5 mil salary and open that 15th roster spot. Only to waste 1 million on Dozier.
And he didn't even play a position of need for us (1 or 5).
My guess is that Connelly saw Dozier as a somewhat known quantity that could provide injury insurance early in the season. I don't think they wanted to depend on Minott, Dillingham, and Shannon before they were confident they were ready. At this point, those guys have established they are capable of playing regular minutes when needed.
At this point I've given up trying to contemplate what is going through Tim Connelly's mind when he makes big decisions because I've come to the conclusion it's probably John Cena and grilled cheese sandwiches.

You are hard. Last night he was +1 on 1 second play. Quite impressive

He was a key factor in three wins and the kteam is 6-2 when he plays...

Re: 2024 Free Agency
Any interest in Biyombo, JaVale McGee, or Frank Kaminsky?
Biyombo can make highlight reel blocks, but that is all he does. He makes so many dumb plays. McGee might be even dumber - the avatar of “Shaqtin the Fool.”
Frank isn’t dumb, but while 7-foot, he isn’t as physical at 31 years old. He can make three pointers (the other two have no range), and he’s playing in the G League right now, after spending some time overseas.
Centers are going down fast all over the league, and teams that don’t address their needs by the trade deadline are going to stampede free agency in ten days looking for them. Adding a player into that 15th spot is expensive for us with he lux taxes. Are any of these guys worth it?

I don't have much confidence any of those guys would be better than Garza, and if they don't clearly meet that threshold there is little point in signing them.

I have no interest in those guys, but there are a few that I would take over Garza.

I love this post. If MIN is going to spend the money and lux taxes to use their 15th roster spot, the guy they bring in better be significantly better than Garza, because even a vet min player would be expensive.
Probably a better approach is to look for a trade with Joe Ingles and incentive (cash? 2nd?) to find that back up center. Guys that have jobs on NBA rosters now are probably better anyway, and they wouldn’t cost additional lux taxes.

Mo Bamba just got waived. Is this someone we want enough to try and pick up on waivers? If not, assume clears waivers and we can get him slightly cheaper, do we want him then?

If we are serious about winning, and after watching last night, he would likely make a difference as a backup center compared to what we had.

i mean he fits what we need on paper but he's also one of the dumbest and least mature players in the league.
If you think Josh Minott is in Finch's doghouse, wait until you see Mo Bamba.

Hey it's February and Joe Ingles just got his first points of the season, can't trade him now we need to get the most out of that investment!

A lot better than Garza.
Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
