Game 2 video link: https://youtu.be/0f1NmRxs9AU

Notes:

1. PJ Dozier is back and looking rusty but promising.

2. Josh Minott showing both that he is not ready for the NBA, but is gonna be a G league stud this year.

3. Moore getting it going a bit more in this one.

4. Luka might not defend or rebound well, but damn can he shoot.

5. Iowa could go places this year.

Iowa Wolves/G League talk ;; Game 3 on Nov 12 (Page 37)

New thread title now in effect! I am not against making a 2022/23 season thread, but I figure the consolidation thread probably works, for the time being.

I was surprised by the lack of interest thus far. I trust your judgement however you want to proceed. I am just glad the Iowa Wolves have so much talent. It bodes well for our future. Iron sharpens iron after all.

Garza through 2 games has scored 52 points on 25 shots. Minott is a +54 with 18 rebounds and 42 points on 32 shots, as our second best scorer. These guys are gonna be players.
Moore has 17 in both games for a total of 34 points on 25 shots. He is showing flashes of game, but still not as quick as I would like him to be.

Glad Dozier is back! Garza looks automatic shooting from any distance, really impressive. Moore is playing as PG, and I like this intention to develop him as ballhandler

PJ looked great considering he hadn’t played competitive basketball since November 24th and is coming back from an ACL. I have high hopes he will be on this roster before the new year. I love what you said about Garza and Moore. +2.

A healthy PJ Dozier might be a missing piece in high wall defensive scheme AND in drop scheme.

I know Minott is raw and needs time, but for someone who played as little as he did in college, he is killing it in the G. With the shortage of draft capital coming our way we need to keep finding these diamonds and then develop them out of the rough.

I really hope he can consistently improve in Iowa this year, both in basketball IQ and improve body: add low core strength. Next year I hope we can organise knowledge transfer / mentorship process. I mean Anderson and Prince are very solid role players, Minott can learn a lot from them.

Dozier, Muddiay, and Elleby, all have significant NBA experience. Even AJ Lawson has been around the block last year. Minott has plenty of knowledgeable and hopefully eager teachers who can really help him now. Though I agree KA, Prince, and Rudy probably all have a lot to teach him as well. I don’t know why, but I get the MCD vibe from him. That vibe that says, you will get flashes, but it will take years to truly understand just how awesome I am.

Through four games, Luka Garza has an eFG% 83.3, and a TS% of 88.5 on good usage (22.5%)!

He is shooting 72.5% on 13.8 FGA’s, including 68.2% on 4.4 3PA!

I was tempted to put this in the unreal stats thread!

Forget Ant mentoring Luka. Let’s get Luka to mentor Ant and Dlo on proper shot technique. That is beyond unreal, that is in fictional words territory (no real words explain that.)

Interesting that all 3 were recalled to the main roster. I wonder if this is just to practice with the guys for a few days and then send them all back down situation?

Iowa team has weird schedule, they wont play there till 26th Nov. Players will be constantly recalled from gleague to have practices with main team.

They play 25th in Fort Wayne. We play 23rd in Indianapolis and 25th in Charlotte. There's another natural transfer point.

The next elongated stretch they have is two weeks off for Christmas from 15th to 29th. We play 7 games in that stretch.

We will see Minott's dunks, Moore 3s and Garza supremacy! Best Christmas gift!
