We will see Minott's dunks, Moore 3s and Garza supremacy! Best Christmas gift!

The only ways this happens are:

1. Garbage time of a blowout (either team winning that blowout.)

2. Serious Covid or illness issues make a large number of rotation players unavailable.

3. Everyone on the rotation fouls out.

Minott is too raw, Moore doesn’t yet fully understand how to play the position they want him to play (PG.) Garza is great, but his defense is shaky, and they already struggling to find minutes for Naz.

How have Mudiay and Dozier been doing? Forbes has been very bad so far. Is it time to pull the trigger to bring in some PG or defensive wing depth? Granted, we don't have much for shooting either, but if Forbes isn't taking and making shots, he is worthless.

After every ugly loss I see "we are doomed, TC traded away all picks, we traded our future" etc. Here is something I want to add when I see such posts. I need to remind myself that running, developing team is process, not something fixed.

1) lets speak about timeline, for instance, Patrick Beverley played well for us, but he also showed signs of declining, we overpaid him on 13 mil 1 yr deal and right now he is not worth that money. Also keeping him would not solve our PG problem, if Beverley plays significant minutes, it would leave no opportunities for young players. I would be happy to keep Beverley for let say 25 mil/3yrs (10+5+5 last year team option), so he can stay with us, mentor guys, be vocal leader, but 13 mil one year deal leaves us no prospects after this season, moreover with how Nowell and DLo negotiations go, we would have Beverley, Nowell and DLo deals all expiring in the same offseason.

2) I see Vando hitting 4/4 threes, I see Malik Beasley showing off some dance moves after hitting big threes. I am really happy for them, but I remember that Beasley struggled first half of last season, Vanderbilt was ineffective against LAC and MEM etc. They all are excellent role players, but they all have clear ceiling and limitations, and that was the reason why we were able to sign them to team friendly deals (please dont forget Beasley problems with law). The real question here is whether our FO is able to replace such role players, and in my opinion Kyle Anderson and Taurean Prince are excellent acquisitions, we struggled for years to attract MLE candidates, even Derrick Jones Jr. declined our offer. Rivers has been useful as well, and Forbes has been awful.

3) I see Kessler playing well, I would not be surprised if he gets more playing time in rebuilding UTA than in MIN, hence he might look a lot better and progress faster. But the real question for me is whether we can still find and develop our talents. I see scenario where Reid, Nowell and DLo all will leave our team for bigger money/opportunity. But I also hope that we have first wave of candidates who can replace them: Garza, Moore, Lawson. Maybe it is not 1-to-1 comparison, and this team will need to make some adjustments, but I think Garza, Moore and Lawson are NBA players. The trick here is two-way contract, which means that Garza and Lawson will be RFA next summer, and if they outperform we will have a way to keep them, if they want to pickup QO, it will be again two-way contract for next season. So basically we have two years of team control, just like in McLaughlin situation.

To sum up. I call McDonalds approach:

* - we must develop young players faster than they leave. I honestly believe that MIN has been one of the best organisations in terms of finding and developing talents. First with Rosas who converted RoCo into Vando, Beasley, Juancho, MCD, found Reid, Nowell, McLaughlin and now I hope this trend continues with TC who got Garza, Moore, Lawson, PJ Dozier, Minott.

* - we must find MLE type guys who are in their primes such as KA and TP.

This process must function as production pipeline - non stop. If I understand correctly doing Gobert trade we put everything on MIN ability as organisation to work this way.

But I am kind of expected this. More important for me is PJ Dozier performance. I dont know how, but I want us to keep this player.

The Garza rebounding and efficient scoring would sure look nice on the Timberwolves. It is probably tough to give him center minutes over Rudy and Naz though, and Fitch must be scared of putting him in at the PF position with one of the other centers?

IMO Garza's passing skills would make him NBA backup C. If he can play five-out center, for instance run delay action, he will be backup big. I doubt he ever play PF in NBA

Yeah, too slow to play PF. But he needs some run. He can teach Rudy some post moves and how to box out. Regardless, he needs to get some minutes. Put him in early with Naz, I think they can play together.
Hell if they thought Towns and Rudy could work, why not them 2?

Ideal side kick for both Naz and Garza would be fully developed Minott: mobile, athletic comboforward with good rebounding skills.

I’m looking at their stats and Dozier’s D / rebounding and 3pt % look good. He’s up there on TOs. May be trying to do too much.

Thank you for a fresh look at the situation.

The doom-and-gloomers like to argue that there is no way to improve the roster going forward. However, the G League and MLE are very real avenues to keep this roster from capsizing.

We also can and will use trades as a source of roster replenishment.

His FTs % are concerning as well. I think around trade deadline we will have better understanding whether he is fully recovered.

So many ways to respond to this...I mean..

Why didn't anyone think of this? This reminds me of a time when I sold all of the tires off of my wife's car. She had all season tires during the winter. But I sold them all for cheap so I could get a new Blizzak tire. They gave my credit a hard hit a couple of times by mistake, but for some reason she was angry that I told her that I got the other used slick tires from behind a used tire shop. I still wonder why she was so upset.

Since the NBA game starts late, I've been watching the Iowa Wolves. A few observations:
- The Wolves should move Forbes (either trade or waive) and sign Dozier. PJ's ramped up his playing time to 30+ minutes a night and he looks like he should probably be in the NBA.
- Minott isn't yet ready for the NBA, but I think he could be a rotation player as early as next season.
- The Iowa team needs to find a developmental center. Without Garza they are incredibly small.
- Whichever of Garza/Knight is lower on the NBA depth chart should be in Iowa.

Thank you, mate! Where do you watch Iowa games? How would you describe Dozier game? How good is his on ball and off ball defense? Why he is shooting so bad from FTs?

My idea is if we keep DLo and Nowell, we should some kind of supporting structure that can cover their weaknesses and maximize strengths. Just like last year with Beverley who partially shared PG duties with DLo (Pat actually had the best year in his career is passer) AND was instrumental in team defensive scheme.

I hope that Dozier and Moore can grow as supporting cast for offensive minded players such as DLo and Nowell: make extra pass, move the ball, defend opponent PoA, hit open 3s and rebound the ball.

I think Vando is the comparison. Hopefully, he's V8 with a jump shot.

I don't see Vando handling the ball, running, leading fastbreak AND making accurate pass or acrobatic layup. It seems like Vando doesn't have wing like body control, ballhandling and touch.
