Why would they need you to self describe if you identify as male? That's the end of the conversation right there.

If I'm at the doctor's and they ask if I'm taking any medications and I check "No", I don't elaborate on the next question about which medications I take.

I don't "identify" as male. I am male. Therefore the self describe box with an option for narrative fit me the best and where I chose to answer.

I get where you're coming from. I changed my post about taking a stand before you said this, but I think I was taking a stand. The stand I'm trying to make is that identifying as the gender that is inconsistent with your physical traits just might be a sign of mental illness. We should at least consider it.

I'm uncertain how mental health professionals are allowed to treat this condition. We won't resolve this here and it's gotten enough off track now that I'm done with it.

I never said MUST. I said may be. A person with a penis insisting they are female or one with a vagina insisting they are male may be mentally ill. It's certainly worth considering the possibility.
