No Barnes in the deal. Wonder if they go Iggy at the 2 and Barnes at the 3?

My friend usually never texts me this stuff, but he's a diehard laker fan and keeps up with their stuff all the time and he said Klay's dad said that today.

Take it for what it's worth.

Damn...we give both Kevins? I guess Martin can be seen as a neutral impact for us anyway; gives us offense, but horrible defense. Plus, him and Rubes never clicked.

Trade Pek or make him the 6th man.

And go with Dieng (Defense) and D.Lee (offense).

That is a balance front court right ?

Yikes. I'd be pretty upset if Barnes isn't in there. I know no one likes Barnes but me, but I'd much rather have him than a lowly future first.

At least if that's true, it doesn't include Barnes. But it still seems pretty darn light to me, probably because I don't see evidence of this alleged Klay Thompson lock-down defense that some claim exists. That, and the fact that a future Warriors pick will not be worth much.

Maybe Flip is thinking with Brewer, Bud, and Muhammad, he has no use for another 3. Barnes sent to a third team for a pick?

That oversimplifies things, there are plenty of advanced stats that say Pek is a better defender than Dieng at this point.

Lee+Barnes+13 for the 8th if Gordon is there? Would you do that?

After reading what I just wrote, that's overkill. We probably wouldn't even need to include 13

Eeesh. That's another rough year at SF. Unless Budinger gets healthy and regains his average status, that's a big bowl of overpaid, mediocre-to-bad play at SF.

Edit: It's actually another several years of SF yuck, considering those contracts.

Personally, I think thats needed to offset the extra salary in Lee's deal.

Take on smaller contracts (Gibson or Faried) and we don't have to include Martin.

If you're not "going to get anything of value for him and trading him is just going to create a greater need", how is that neutral?

He's a starting caliber PF for a team that needs a starting PF.

At least expand that to include a Green for Brewer/Budinger swap.

He's not a great fit with our other players, though.

If he's not a great roster fit and we can't trade him because we won't get anything good in return, I fail to see how he's ever neutral trade filler.

I'm not completely opposed to the deal simply because of Thompson, but I'm not too fond of acquiring Lee.
