Or way less depending what you believe in.
RAPM
Faried -0.13
Klay 1.19
Kemba 1.36
Rubio 3.10

The Rubio lovers are putting a hell of a lot of stock in that one particular advanced stat.

I don't know if it's the most accurate stat, but it's the most important stat. Ultimately you should only care about how a player affects the teams scoring differential.

Except I think it's pretty hard to separate his contributions out when the overwhelming amount of his minutes are played with monster stats guy Kevin Love. Big reason I would have preferred how he did this season before committing huge money. We can cross our fingers I guess.

NBA advanced stats are sort of dubious. All of them said Love was a superstar. Rubio is hanging on a thin branch in that regard.

Five-year extensions for first round picks are for max money only. Four-year extensions don't have that restriction.

First year of five-year deal would start at about $16.5m (25% of salary cap) with 7.5% raises. Meaning we'd be looking at paying him 95 mil over 5 years.

$16,575,000
$17,818,125
$19,061,250
$20,304,375
$21,547,500

For reference, the max another team could offer RFA Rubio next year would've been 4 years, 70.7 million.

$16,575,000
$17,320,875
$18,066,750
$18,812,625

Can this be structured so it's up front and declining or even flat every year? Would be really nice to have it declining which would open up a heck of a lot of flexibility going forward and make him much more tradeable if (knock on wood) he gets some sort of injury or plateaus in his skills. I'm happy regardless of how it's structured but it sure would be nice if Flip was forward thinking and structured it in one of these ways.

Sounds like it's flat, so:

2015-16: $13,750,000 (+$250,000 incentives)
2016-17: $13,750,000 (+$250,000 incentives)
2017-18: $13,750,000 (+$250,000 incentives)
2018-19: $13,750,000 (+$250,000 incentives)

He played almost an entire season without Love. I don't know the exact calculation of RAPM, but if it's like other adjusted plus minus stats, it should have taken that season (and along with 13-14 and 11-12) into account when calculating Rubio's RAPM.

Big fan of Ricky but I wouldn't have payed him more then $10M or $11M per season.I just can't pay a guy $14M per year when he has yet to show that he can even average 14ppg or has yet to shoot 40% from the field. Now if he can improve his offensive game and become a Rondo/Kidd type PG who averages around 14 to 16 PPG and increase his field goal percentage this season and going forward its a fine deal,I just have strong doubts that he will.

To bad Kahn screwed up so bad by trading Big Al away for a bag of chips and not giving Love that 5th years.I would much rather have Love long term then Rubio.

Yeah, the wolves basically just gave kendall Marshall 14 mil per season but at least kendall can shoot.

As of right now Ricky's overpaid by a million or two annually but his contract could be a bargain in a few years assuming his shot really comes along.

For now I'm okay with his deal but I'm generally ecstatic that he's under contract for another four years.

If that's the case we'll gladly trade you Marshall plus throw in Henson and Knight to make up the salary.

Minor overpay at most, and it will be considered a bargain after the next CBA, with the big TV deals, comes into effect.

A minor overpay would have been 12. 14 is huge for a guy you can't comfortably play most 4th quarters.

And I don't care what it'll be like in a few years time. Right now, this is an overpay. Whether the new CBA makes the contract tolerable is irrelevant.

This makes me feel better. Hopefully he'll be overpaid only for his first season or two then become underpaid for the rest.

Watch some game tape and do a bit of research before you troll.
