Re: ***The 2020 NBA Off-Season Thread***
Thibs should definitely get a lot of credit for getting the wolves into the playoffs. I think he undoubtedly propelled the team very quickly with his trades. That said, the way he managed the personalities on this team and front office was a complete disaster. He was so bad on the social/personal side of things. That combined with him showing some of the same flaws he always had, really tight rotations, running players into the ground, etc. I figured he was done, at least for some time.
There is a lot of potential for Things to do well but there is also a lot of baggage there. New York thinks it's worth it and maybe they are right, I just assumed they would like to start elsewhere.

But the Knicks still have Dolan, Lustgarten, Rose and Perry right? Thibs is being hired as a head coach, correct? Many said during Thibs MN run that it would maybe have been better if he wasn't handling everything as he was. Myself I'm not so sure which he would be better for. He might actually be better in a GM role analyzing and making the hard decisions on players and maybe just directing the overall direction of team and allowing someone else, hopefully another strong willed ego coach handle the team and games as head coach. Some of those game/roster use issues seemed like the important issues while he was here. The rest of it was just nasty/spiteful internal politics typical of MN.

we should look into signing one of the morris twins as our starting pf. both seem to be 2 way players who are excellent 3 pt shooters. don't know who's better though. Seems like marcus morris is having a better career; and both are UFAs. Maybe try to sign them with the MLE.

Was wrong on both accounts. NBA coaches with a name get aq lot of chances.
SVG implemented innovative offensive scheme with Hedo and Lewis as stretch fours, comboforwards around DH. But in DET they made same mistake giving him GM duties and responsibilities.

Both are combination of questionable IQ and bonehead plays.

That was an “Innovative” scheme ?? ... haha
what would it take to be a “novel” scheme ?? ... use them as wing/forwards?

The 1-3-1 has been around since flipper was a minnow ... why would it be innovative for SVG to use it? That’s all I’m asking.

Which team other than ORL used successfully 1-3-1 in 2008-09?

Would be great if Okogie surprised everyone and put it all together this year.

Seems like warriors might draft deni avdija..if they don't trade their pick. We get to choose b/w edwards, ball, and wiseman..if we decide to keep the pick.

Re: ***The 2020 NBA Off-Season Thread***
Thibs reminded me of the Musselman era. Both coaches excelled at getting the most out their current rosters and were ideal “win now” guys. They just weren’t the right fit at the time for an organization that needed to give time to younger players to develop. It’s hard to pass blame on coaches wanting to win and being short sided at times...they were hired to win games.
There’s no doubt in my mind that the Knicks will be improved this season as far as Win % but they don’t have much on their current roster to work with.

Agree 100%...if both Josh and Culver took big steps this year with their offensive efficiency, it could be an exciting year. They’re both really easy guys to root for, too!

Wiseman seems like the perfect fit for GSW but Avdija can’t be far behind if not tied with him.

2004: Emeka Okafor (No. 2)
2005: Raymond Felton (No. 5)
2005: Sean May (No. 13)
2006: Adam Morrison (No. 3)
2008: D.J. Augustin (No. 9)
2009: Gerald Henderson Jr. (No. 12)
2011: Bismack Biyombo (No. 7)

2015: Frank Kaminsky (No. 9)
2017: Malik Monk (No. 11)
2018: Miles Bridges (No. 12)
IMO CHA should consider trading their pick. They are horrible at drafting.

1, Evans, Spellman for 3 and Bridges.
Wolves get whoever is left of Ball/Edwards and add a rotation forward, Lets get it done.

Bridges has an intriguing skillset, but is far from an impactful player...
For much of the season, Bridges had one of the worst on/off ratings in the entire league—through the end of December, the Hornets were 19.5 net points per 100 possessions worse when Bridges was on the floor.
