I watched the k-state game tonight and Beasley did look pretty smooth offensively. He does tend to get a little b*tchy when he doesnt get the ball when he is calling for it, but other than that, I just see a confident guy that can really play.

That being said, I still have a tough time seeing where he fits. If we draft him, we would have to put him at PF and Al at C and go with a more uptempo game which suits Telfair and Foye. Hopefully someone like Hardin or Dorsey takes a tumble to the second round.

Jefferson - Richard
Beasley - Smith
Brewer - Gomes
McCants - Foye
Telfair - Foye

What i'm trying to say is that it ain't gonna happen.

I saw that too. I also agree that if we end up with Beasley, he probably has to play the 4. He's an outstanding athlete but I think he's too stiff to play the 3. I think he could be a defensive liability in the future because he might be too slow to guard the 3 and too small to guard the 4. I noticed he doesn't even get good position for defensive rebounds. Most of the time his man was in front of him. However, his man rarely got the rebound because the shot ricocheted off the rim creating a long rebound for Beasley. I don't know if Beasley just knows how to play off that rim or if he just got lucky on those long rebounds.

Everybody knows defense wins championships. If I have the first overall pick, I take Rose. Having a guy who could lockdown guys like Parker, Paul, Williams, etc. is more valuable who than a guy who can score 25-30 points but give up nearly the same amount on the other end.

You don't get lucky leading the Nation in rebounding buddy.

I was talking about that particular game.

Regardless, Beasley is the only player on K-State taller than 6'6 getting significant minutes, thus he is the tallest player on his team on the court for the majority of the time. When you're the tallest player on your team and you play a lot of minutes, you SHOULD be getting the most rebounds.

If you watched last night's game you would've seen what I was talking about.

Who does Beasley remind you of?

For me it's Lamar Odom. I watched Beasley for the fourth time last night. I also watch just about every Laker game. They are a little different. Beasley is probably a little better on the defensive glass and Odom is much much better off the dribble and a better passer. But the way they move around the basket and their shooting stroke are almost identical IMO.

I'm curious to see how Lamar works at the three for the Lakers when Bynum gets back. This might shed light on whether Beasley can be a three, because if Odom can't, then surely Beasley can't.

Hmm, I dunno about Lamar Odom.

Coming into the draft, the guy the Wolves really wanted was Odom because they thought he could play PG or point forward. Odom went 4th to the Clippers and we got Wally at #6.

Odom is a finesse guy and Beasley seems to be more about power and athleticism.

There aren't many guys who shoot lefthanded so Beasley's shooting stroke looks a lot like other southpaws.

During the game last night, the commentators for ESPN mentioned Beasley is ambidextrous but is right-handed. He just started using his left hand a lot more when playing basketball.

That's sweet.

I used to play left handed in middle school, but felt more relaxed with my right handed shot, so I changed it up to right when I started playing for my high school. From experience, it definitely gives you an advantage offensively because it doesn't feel awkward when you take it in left handed.

Good to know Beasley can play both sides equally.

It's funny to see how people try to knock Beasley down a notch. Beasley seems frustrated about not getting the ball! Well, of course. Texas was pulling away and Beasley only got about 6 shots in the 2nd half because A) Texas was swarming him with 3 guys before he even got the ball, and B) His teammates were jacking it up from the perimeter without trying to get him the ball.

Beasley gets 15 rebounds. He got lucky!

Beasley's leading the nation in rebounding. Of course he is, he's the tallest player on his team!

I'm getting a chuckle out of them, keep 'em coming.

What's with this classless post?

Everybody respects each other's opinions on here. To laugh and mock someone else is immature. Nobody's opinion is better than anyone else's on here. I suggest you lose that elitist attitude.

I didn't find the post offensive. If he had called someone out directly and made fun of them, that's classless. As it was he was just disagreeing with some other sentiments on the board.

I agree we want to keep it civil, but I think there's been a lot worse posts that went unchecked.

I listed 3 things that I thought were funny statements.

I backed up why I thought the first one was funny, so I won't do that in this post.

The second point I found funny because it's tough to say he lucked into 15 rebounds when he's leading the nation in rebounding.

The third statement I found funny because there are plenty of players that are the tallest player on their teams, but don't lead the nation in rebounding. It implied that Beasley simply gets boards because he's tall, which definitely isn't the case.

I do respect people's opinions around here. I just happen to find how far people are willing to reach in order to knock Beasley down a peg or two funny. It seems like those that advocate picking someone other than Beasley at #1 tend to do so by tearing down Beasley, not by building up their guy (not exactly the most mature way to go about making their case, but whatever). That I find that funny isn't elitist.

I don't think my opinion is better than anybody else's around here. In some instances it's more correct, and in many other instances it's less correct. I should still be able to express it, and in this particular instance, it was that those three statements made me chuckle. There are holes in Beasley's game that can be used to make an argument against him. His rebounding and getting exasperated when his team is falling behind and he's not getting a chance to keep them in the game don't fall into that category.

People have made far more classless, elitist and immature posts than that one around here, but nobody gets bent out of shape because they realize that for the most part, it's all in good fun. Lighten up.

Thanks karch. I didn't seek to offend, just disagree. I also agree that there are far worse posts that didn't lead to their authors being called immature elitists lacking class. It just seemed like an odd place to draw the line considering what's normally allowed to fly around here.

odom is a horrible comparison. If Beasley has odom's ballhandling, court vision and passing he would be renamed "Jesus"

The concern with Beasley is he is a tweener, if he plays the 4 he will be against much bigger players and it will hurt his rebounding and ability to get the shots off. He will be a starter and perhaps a decent player, but Billy Owens. As I said months ago.

I started buying into Beasley when I thought he can play the 3. His offensive game is very 3-ish. He is fast enough to play the 3. He is "stiff" on defense, but that hurts as the 3 or the 4. If we were to start brewer as the 2 (which would help him) and let Beasley at the 3 and Al at the 4 with a shot-blocker at the 5 I think we have a fair defensive team. We can overcome the weak spots of Beasley on defense. But this allows Beasley to float in the mid-range/high post he loves. he is rebounding over players of a smaller size and he can get out on the break.

As a 4 he is decent, as a 3 he is special. To me Beasley is a huge risk/reward.

Horace, do not remind me of hotsauce, you are better than that.

Having Al be able to play 4/5, Beasley play 3/4, Corey and Marko able to play 2/3, Foye able to play 1/2 allows for a wide range of substitution possibilities without missing a step. Take out Bassy, put in a C. That kind of thing.

As it stands now, though, Al will be the only guy 6'10 or taller on the roster next year. That pretty much precludes playing Beasley much at the 3 to start.

I don't get how Beasley CAN'T play the 3. He is so fluid offensively, and he isn't slow either. I was thinking that if we re-sign Gomes and Bassy, we could run with a lineup of:

Bassy
Brewer
Beasley
Gomes
Jefferson

then defensively, Gomes could guard the small forwards, and Beasley can handle the fours.

I don't need semi-professional "Scouts" from draft sites to say he can't handle the 3; Beasley is quick, strong, has range, can handle the ball and he can certainly pass. The only thing is is he fast enough to hang with the Lebrons, Carons and Melos of the world?

That's Beasley playing the 4. I don't care about offense. On offense, you just do your thing, who cares about position. It's defense that matters.

If Beasley can play good defense at the 3 then I'd seriously consider him, even before my man crush of Jordan. One thing we are going to need is a defensive 3, because Melo is going to be in our division for a long time. If he can only play the 4 then I'd stay away and pretty much take him off my draft board. I don't want Al at the 5, I don't see any reason to make our center piece play out of position even if that means we gotta give up the BPA.

Now some people don't think Al is our center piece, I would disagree.

Others would say that Al has been getting better at guarding the 5, and that is true, but imagine if he was a full time 4. He could actually turn into an above average defender.

I'm fine with the idea of Al at 4 and Beasley at three, I'm just dubious of the execution - who exactly is going to play C for the Wolves in that scenario?
