Tyreke Evans and Greg Monroe will be playing in a couple minutes on WCCO (Memphis Vs Georgetown).
Looking forward to seeing Evans.

mediocre performances by Monroe and Evans

today was all about Dionte Christmas. He'd be a nice consolation prize at SG if we didn't get Harden

i think ther are 4 big time talents in this draft...

griffin
curry
harden
jennings

I think guys like Thabeet, Derozan, Monroe, Mullins have questions to their game.

The 1 guy we should really target is Harden, by all accounts he's a coaches dream, good kid, and unreal talent at a position we need. With potentially 4 1sts and pekovic in europe and mccants as a trade chip, do what it takes to get him. Hell we might be able to get him with our own 1st pick early in draft.

This Samardo (sp) kid from Louisivlle is beasting out on points/rebs, freshman too. Keep an eye on him.

While neither player went crazy statwise, I felt they both showed a lot of promise during the game. Evans wowed me with his ability to get to the rim and his body control. Once he learns how to create contact with defenders, he's going to be dangerous. He also has a nice intensity on de. Might be too selfish, but I think his coach want him to be.

Monroe had some nice plays too, especially late in the game. There were a couple instances where he put the ball on the floor and moved like a guard. I don't think he's coming out this year, next year he's going to be a beast I think.

Chad Ford's lottery generator has been released already, lol. I guess you gotta give the bottom feeders something to look forward to.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/lottery2009/mockdraft

Look like he has our draft board as:

1.) Griffin
2.) Thabeet
3.) Curry

Can't seem to tell beyond that.

As much as I would like a big, legit center like Thabeet, I don't think I would take him #2 ahead of Rubio (or probably ahead of Harden at this point).

Does Foye, Miller, or Brewer factor into us drafting a PG or SG? Harden seems a little small, another Randy Foye type? Rubio as a European PG who isn't athletic or fast, scares me. We are the Mini-Wolves in every game it seems.

As a disclaimer, I'm saying this while watching all of about 30 minutes total of college basketball so far this year. I start paying attention more come conference and tournament time, after the NFL is over. Of and of the 30 minutes, I think maybe 25 of it was the buck-toothed-rodents against Virginia.

Harden is 6'5", which isn't great height but isn't bad, either. He seems to have long arms, too. I'm less concerned with his size than his athleticism but he seems to be deceptively quick and I've seen comparisons to Paul Pierce and Brandon Roy with him. He seems to play good team defense also.

Rubio is not a great jump shooter but he is the pure point guard that this team has never had. His court awareness is phenomenal. Rubio/Jefferson could be the next Stockton/Malone (maybe). This team seems to need a floor general to keep the ball moving around, maybe Rubio could be that player. It's hard to say since he is playing in Europe and he is still young. I doubt he is in this draft, though.

I've seen him listed at 6'4" in places, which college players are always listed at least an inch taller than they actually are, so maybe even 6'3"? Is that a strong, explosive 218lbs, or chubby? I do like that he's actually a VERY young sophomore. Turned 19 right before school started this year, when most guys would only be a freshman if they had the same birthdate.

In every match-up, Jrue has closed out Derozan. Derozan if you want to tap into pure unadulterated athleticism from a player who can jump out of the gym.

Jrue is every team's dream. He can take over a game if NEEDED, but he is by nature a team player = he is not selfish enough. His numbers at UCLA are relatively low because he is deferring to Collison and Shipp. He is ambidextrous with the ball...literally. He has a dependable jumper which will get better, but his game comes from maneuvering in the paint. He can get his shot off in every conceivable way. HE IS VERY SMOOTH. He plays the 2,,,he plays pg.

He is a great man defender and he wants the D poy crown that Westbrook took last year in the p10. Fantastic anticipatory skills and lots of steals. He's not Wade because he doesn't do his work above the rim, although he can if need be. In this respect I think Jrue always plays ALWAYS under control. Some have said he was the BEST defender in high school they had ever seen. Some liken him to Dumars. He IS the best player on UCLA.

Lastly, he is a fine and earnest person, though I don't know if anyone cares in the nba.

I was watching Jrue Holliday play at a Minnesota high school tournament about a year ago, and I was absolutely enamored. One of the best high school players i've seen personally, and like you say his defense is awesome. He was very much under control for much of the game I saw, but at the end of the game when they needed him to take over he did, on both ends. I remember in particular him jumping up really high and stealing an outlet pass, and coming back and dunking it down. Just a very good player.

At the pro level he would be a tweener. He has many of the same tools westbrook was able to convert into a PG, but a scout will have to have that desire with Jrue. I agree he is a talent with great attitude on and off the court. Very good composure for a player his age.

Anyone here see that Ben Woodside from North Dakota St. dropped 60 on Stephen F. Austin last Friday in a triple OT loss?

Here is a breakdown of Woodside’s performance of the ages:

First half: 7 points. He was the only Bison to go to the free-throw line, making 1 of 2.

End of regulation: 33 points, 8 of 20 field goals, 15 of 18 free throws.

With the Bison trailing 73-63 with less than four minutes remaining, Woodside went wild, zipping a pass inside to Austin Pennick for a layup (73-65), dishing a pass to Brett Winkelman for a 3-pointer (75-68), draining his own 3-pointer (75-71), sinking two free throws (75-73) before dishing a pass out to Mike Nelson for a 3-pointer, giving the Bison their first lead of the game 76-75.

End of first overtime: 40 points, 9 of 23 field goals, 20 of 24 free throws. With the Bison trailing 89-86, Woodside penetrated the lane again – but this time into a wall of three defenders. He dumped a pass out to Winkelman, who drained a 3-pointer from in front of the Bison bench.

End of second overtime: 49 points, 11 of 27 field goals, 25 of 30 free throws. The Bison took a 97-94 lead when Woodside exploded to the basket from the left wing, banking in a layup with his right hand to avoid a block.

End of third overtime: 60 points, 14 of 32 field goals, 30 of 35 free throws. With 58 seconds left, Woodside banked in a hanging 8-foot floater to give the Bison a 108-107 lead. His three-point play – his final points – gave the Bison a 111-110 lead with 18 seconds left.

Not saying he's the answer to all the Wolves problems but still a damn impressive performance!

Don't know about that. Jrue will be pg,,,,flat out. He has the size for it, the head for it. He just happens to be playing opposite Collison who should never play sg. Westbrook is so athletic he allows that element of his make-up to overpower his game, making him erratic and out of control, like the rest of OKC. Jrue, otoh, is much more "savvy" and plays with his head, but Ben Howland will tell you Jrue is the best bball athlete he's ever recruited.

my ideal draft:
MN pick: Harden, Mia pick: Curry, Utah pick: Sam Young, Boston pick: Dionte Xmas

ALL OFFENSE!!! - let us never speak of this 40% shooting nonsense again. I should probably be interested in defense and size too, but I'm just sick of these British people stopping me on the street because they see my Timberwolves cap and start busting my chops with their "hallow there ol' chap, took a butchers 'bout the timberwolves game and i say, the opponent really took the biscuit on them! Your team's scheme is quite cunning, quite cunning indeed....one of complete offensive ineptitude!!"

And what can I say? I know I've been completely owned, so my face gets all red and I feel real hot, I try to save face with insults like "whatever dude, tea and crumpets, tea and crumpets, I can't even understand what you're saying, tea and crumpets" but it's too late, we both know I've been ferociously insulted and there's no coming back

My ideal draft:
MN pick: Thabeet or Harden (in that order)
MIA pick: Curry or Budinger
Other picks: take a 3/2 regardless with both unless mn gets harden + curry, in which case take best big man available.

Since your gm inexplicably traded away Mayo for Love, you should go with James Harden. He reminds me a lot of Brandon Roy with how clam and poise he is.

I pray we make a trade. I really want that, but if we do not make a trade (like I said, I want that) and we do not sign FA then my draft based on current spots is

MN (top-4)---------James Hardin
Mia/Uta------------------Maybe Jerome Jordan? Ty Lawson, Collison, Johnny Flynn,

(2nd picks based on drops)

Fact is we need to make a trade before draft. drafting and adding to this group is tough.
