My optimistic/pessimistic/realistic scenario: we convert Jaylen Nowell and Naz Reid into three SRPs. Resign DLo to 100 mil 4 yrs deal. Resign Knight, Rivers to close to minimum deals. Let Bryn Forbes go. Garza, Ryan get Gupta's special. Moore, Minott improve and become rotational players.

Rudy Gobert
Karl-Anthony Towns
Jaden McDaniels
Anthony Edwards
D'Angelo Russell

First sub Kyle Anderson for DLo.

Jordan McLaughlin
Taurean Prince
Wendell Moore Jr.

Nathan Knight
Austin Rivers
Luka Garza
Matt Ryan
Josh Minott

Get one development project and two players on two way contract.

I think this is probably the most realistic scenario. The hope being that with time KAT/Gobert mesh. Ant ascends to a top 10 player. And we compete for the WCF next year.

After impressive MIN win (DEN, CLE, MEM, GSW, SAC) I am always thinking what is our next biggest opportunity for improvement.

The main reasons to believe in this team are:

- Towns fit as an offensive minded big next to Gobert
- MCD untapped potential as scorer
- Edwards potential as PoA defender
- Edwards potential as pick-n-roll scorer/passer
- Edwards potential as mid range scorer
- Edwards potential as postup scorer

But I hope that our scouting and development process will continue to find and develop young guys.

- develop Garza into rotational big who can score, rebound and pass
- develop Minott into athletic comboforward who can defend, rebound, run in transition and hit open 3s
- develop Moore into 3&D player with some passing skills
- develop Ryan into long range marksman on min.contract

The only thing we need development project at PG.

P.S. If we can find development project at 15th spot in roster, I'd be okay to sign PJ Dozier. So our roster will look like:

Rudy Gobert
Karl-Anthony Towns
Jaden McDaniels
Anthony Edwards
D'Angelo Russell

Kyle Anderson

Jordan McLaughlin
Taurean Prince
Wendell Moore Jr.

Nathan Knight
Austin Rivers
Luka Garza
Matt Ryan
Josh Minott
PJ Dozier

The NBA G League announced today that G League Ignite guard Scoot Henderson and Timberwolves/Iowa Wolves forward Luka Garza have been named team captains for the NBAGL Next Up Game, which will take place in Salt Lake City during All-Star weekend.

While the exhibition match isn’t technically being called a G League All-Star Game, that’s essentially what it is. The 24-player pool was selected by a fan vote and by the league itself.

Henderson averaged 21.2 PPG, 6.0 APG, and 4.3 RPG in six Showcase Cup games (28.5 MPG) before missing time with an injury. The guard, widely projected to be the No. 2 pick in this year’s draft, has registered 17.7 PPG, 5.7 APG, and 4.5 RPG in 11 regular season games (29.8 MPG) since returning.

Garza, meanwhile, has been dominant at the G League level while playing for the Timberwolves on a two-way contract. He averaged 29.8 PPG, 9.2 RPG, and 3.2 APG on .628/.500/.794 shooting in nine Showcase Cup games (34.4 MPG) and has been boosted those averages in two regular season games (32.5 PPG, 12.0 RPG, 5.0 APG) for the Iowa Wolves.

One thing to monitor is PJ Dozier: he is increasing 3PA attempts in gleague, he is currently averaging 8.6 attempts, hitting 37.7%. Last game he was 6-15 (40%) from 3pt, game before 4-7, two games before 4-7.

20ppg, 6.1rpg, 4.1apg, 1.3spg, 33.7 mpg, 44.2% from filed, 37.7% 3PT. In Iowa he plays PF/SF, I dont see much explosiveness from him, but he is hitting that open 3s, including corner 3s.

I hope he stays with Iowa this year, continues to develop his 3pt shot, and build some chemistry. I wonder if TC tries to assemble a more versatile, defensive minded roster around Towns, Gobert and Ant:

PJ Dozier - 6'6", 205lbs, 6'11" wingspan
NAW - 6'5", 205lbs, 6'9" wingspan
Moore - 6'4", 215lbs, 7'0" wingspan
KA - 6'9", 230lbs, 7'3" wingspan

All four can dribble, shoot, pass, rebound and defend. This is kind of supporting structure that our team can build to help Towns, Gobert and Ant.

P.S. At some degree Minott fits this vision as well: 6'8", 205lbs, 6'11" wingspan

My scenario for offseason:

Naz Reid sign-and-trade for two SRPs (not sure if is possible)
Re-sign NAW 6.5mil/3yrs year. 2nd, 3rd year - team option (JMac type of deal)
Re-sign Garza 6.5mil/3yrs year. 2nd, 3rd year - team option (JMac type of deal)
Sign Dozier 6.5mil/3yrs year. 2nd, 3rd year - team option (JMac type of deal)

Next year rotation:

Gobert/Knight/Garza
Towns/Anderson/Minott
MCD/TP/Dozier
Edwards/NAW/Moore
Conley/JMac/NAW

Multiple bigs: Gobert/Knight/Garza/Towns
Multiple wings: Anderson/Minott/MCD/TP
Multiple ballhandlers/passers: Towns/Anderson/Edwards/Conley/JMac

And multiple prospects at different positions: Dozier and Minott at wings, Garza at C, NAW and Moore as comboguards.

Whole roster will be just below luxury tax

Good for him. But I wish we had a free spot to sign him on team friendly deal for multiple years.

Iowa Wolves/G League talk ;; Next Game on Jan 12th (Page 39)

I wish we had a young PG prospect between gleague and main. Someone who can learn from Conley. I really liked McKinley Wright game last season.

I think NAW might be that prospect when considering what type of guard would work well next Ant.

Not a true PG per se, but we kinda have that in NAW

Yes, and Ant is that prospect as well.

D.J. Carton may be a kid to keep an eye on.

6'3, 200, 6-6.25 Wingspan. 22 years old. Explosive athlete.

21 Games (19 starts). 17.4 Points on 53/37/81 shooting. 4.4 Rebounds, 6 Assists, 1.3 Steals, .7 Blocks.

May not be a "true" PG, but could fit in well with others who can handle like Ant and Walker.

Wendell Moore isn’t a PG prospect as well but I’d imagine he’ll be groomed into being a 3/D combo guard type. The great thing about Iowa is that Carton (who I love and am hoping gets the two-way spot next season) and Moore get to be mentored by Mudiay and Dozier. Then when Moore is with Minnesota he’s getting mentored by Rivers, Russell, Conley, SloMo, etc.

Tons of wisdom and experience to go around for both teams.
Rest in peace Mamba. There'll never be another Kobe.

This is something I would love to dive deeper into, but it seems Connelly is using the two-ways as an extension of the roster. We had a need for 3-point shooting after Towns went down, so the higher-potential Lawson was dropped for someone who could provide a more immediate impact. Garza we've been using for most of the season as well.

These guys aren't just rotting in Iowa.

I wish we could have as well, unfortunately Dozier wasn't eligible to sign a 2-way contract and there wasn't a regular roster spot available once Forbes was replaced by NAW.

I wonder if after NAW addition this summer we should look at guys who are prolific scorers such as

Craig Randall II
A.J. Lawson (currently on two way with DAL)

Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
