I don't have any real worry about minutes for Cam Payne if the Wolves are able to sign him. I see concerns about his minutes as being similar to Naz last offseason. It seemed like having Naz was a waste and he wouldn't see the floor, but in the end, he logged a career high in minutes and was crucial for the team's success. If Payne ends up in Minnesota, I'd bet on him getting around 1000 minutes with over 20 starts.

And let’s not forget…Kyle Anderson will be the facilitator for the second unit. With Anderson as your primary offensive facilitator and Alexander-Walker as your primary POA defender, Milton is the exact type of complementary “PG who’s not a PG” that the unit needs.

Yeah, Reid-Anderson-Brown-NAW-Milton unit has potential to gel into something special.

Reid as scoring machine
Anderson as facilitator, versatile defender
Brown as three point shooter, defender
NAW PoA defender, 3&D and facilitator
Milton as oversized PG

I feel like all four reserves could be in line for 20 mpg at minimum …. 80 mpg to reserves leaves 160 minutes left to split among the five starters, or 32 minutes per game. There’s how you keep guys like Conley and Gobert fresh, by lowering their minutes loads.

Shake is by far the biggest boom or bust player on the roster. He obviously went insane when he got a chance to start games last November-December. His stats when he plays more than 20 mpg are solid as hell.
Career when he plays more than 20 mins - 12.9 ppg (47% fg, 83% ft, 39% 3p) plus almost 4 assists.
The question is can he do it consistently over an 82 game schedule and will he get 20 minutes. His stats when he plays spot minutes aren't near as good.
He could be our PG of the future or at the end of the bench by the end of the season. We will have to see.

I don't see bust. He's averaged 20 mpg each of the last four years on a playoff team, despite playing as a reserve behind an all-star. You could point to his minutes and production dropping in the postseason, but that may just be a circumstance of bad coaching and situations.

I agree. I think most of us thought Nowell would take a big step forward last year but that didn't happen. So, it's always good to have depth and why he got a 1+1 contract. I didn't think the Payne conversation would result in such diverse opinions but that is interesting and this is the quiet time of the season.

Yes, that is comments Tim just made today and that likely means No Payne No Game. It's also unfortunate that we have no progress on JMcD as I was hoping today's chat was about an extension agreement.

As long as McLaughlin does not see the court, I'm okay with this.

Read on Twitter

That would bring LAC roster to 16 players. The coach has already let Bones Hyland know that he’s not in the rotation, and if they can’t trade Hyland, they may just buy him out.

I know several people like Bones here, and he certainly is a willing scorer. I worry about him disrupting team chemistry if we picked him up, but it’s certainly worth a look. Tim Connelly probably knows him as well as anybody.

Connelly knows him, I would trust his judgment on it. If Bones could play backup pg facilitator I would say for sure yes. I'm not sure if he would actually play here outside of injury replacement, we already have Brown not playing much.

I would worry Bones would never pass, but if Connelly vouched for him, I’d go with his opinion.

I think TC is waiting for Monte Morris to be bought out by the Pistons. I think TC prefers Morris over Bones.

Give me all the Connelly castoffs if they are willing to sign for the minimum.

I see DET is 2-10, and has lost nine straight. They want Cade and Ivey to get minutes, even after Monte Morris gets back from injury.

Stranger things have happened. If they don’t cut him, I wonder if we can make a trade in December that sends them Wendell Moore Jr plus a recent signing?

Morris' salary is 9.8 for trade will take Milton(5) + Moore (2.42) + JMcl (2.32). Buy out is a better way to go.
Alternatives:
Caruso is at 9.4, so same package plus picks
Minott for Hyland but need a third team to take Moore from Wolves to fit the salary
Jones would need: Milton, Moore, JMcL, Brown (4) but I don't know if we still can fill 14 players without getting into 2nd apron.
