Re: Butler has requested a trade part III Practice
Taylor and Butler came to an agreement that the Wolves would continue trying to trade him and he would play and be a good teammate while this was going on. It is looking very much like we won't find a reasonable deal. Will Butler live with that or how long will it take before he acts out again.

I'll be at the first two home games, making the pilgrimage again. I've never booed a player wearing the uniform of my team/club and I'm not going to start now. I'm still thoroughly unimpressed by his bevhaviour though.

Even by the sordid standards the Minnesota Timberwolves have set for slapstick self-destruction, the 2018 offseason could very well stand as the franchise’s cannibal banquet for the ages. After ending a 14-year playoff drought with a 16-win improvement in their record during the 2017-18 campaign, the team has prepped for its 30th anniversary season with a series of events that have made every single person with crucial leverage on its future — player, coach, owner — hop-scotching along a spectrum that ranges from pathetic to malicious to indolent.

MIA media (MIN leaks nothing) likes to say, “Five yard line,” but deals occasionally fall apart once an expensive player’s medical info is released. Waiters is on a $36 million dollar deal, he has not played a single game of pre-season while he rehabs his ankle, and he’s not expected to be ready for the regular season. On top of this, he has not just gotten out of condition, but he showed up after this summer fat.
There is no reason to believe Waiters is healthy and the medical records could say that he’s never going to get there. With a three year deal with all that money, bad news on Waiters health could certainly have wrecked that deal. In fact, the rumor was that Thibs would still have done the deal with Waiters, if Riley had included another pick.
Way off here trying to implicate Miami media for this mess. Heat are the most tight lipped organization in the NBA.
I keep hearing that from Heat fans, but we certainly have 3-4 sources that have MIA links. Do you think the Riley quote, “Get your house in order!” was leaked from the Heat, or from the Wolves? You also have people posting on the MIA board from sources, including three of MIA’s “final offers.” We heard about Riley slamming down the phone and swearing, though he denies it now - where do you think that story emerges - Heat or Wolves? ESPN’s Jorge Sedano presents Heat stuff from his sources when he previously worked at the Miami Herald. The most recent framing is that deals automatically get done if teams exchange medicals records, and that medical records haven’t killed deals in the past, so it must mean Thibs is not dealing in good faith. Which side leaks something like that?
I’m not even saying it’s wrong for a team to make leaks to frame the conversation and try to exert pressure, and local MIN media has been very up front for two years about how Thibs and Layden’s stonewalling can hurt them by preventing them from shaping the argument. And I’m aware Jimmy’s camp leaks stuff too. However, after this continuing episode, even an ardent fan can’t believe the Heat have been tight-lipped.
Miami likely leaked the stuff between Pat and Thibs because guys on your side released what players we were offering in the trade and then after that you backed out of the deal. Which I'm assuming Riley took offense to because everyone knew Jimmy was being traded by you guys but no one knew who we were trading. Now most of our guys have to play the season knowing they were on the trading block.

When would have Minnesota leaked players involved? We didn’t find out that Richardson was involved until a month after the trade request. Up until that point Miami was rumored to be offering mostly negative contracts, which clearly wouldn’t leak from the Wolves side.

Going-ahead with this situation is just going to postpone the unavoidable fate, wich is Butler and Thibs going out.
The purifying of this franchise need to be done as soon as possible.
Yeah we need to be purified of the guys that got us our only winning season and playoff appearance of the last 14 years. How dare they do that.
Wiggins and Towns has been here for 14 years. I am the first who is dissapointed with our young guys but they can´t be blamed for the mismanagement of the franchise. Thibs took over one the most attractive teams besides Philly due to the young core and cap space and now we don´t have any flexibility and barely options of making playoffs. This is the price paid for a playoff appearance achieved in the overtime of the last game of the season.

I laugh at your new idea that Mia only leaked in retaliation. MIA has been leaking right from the start. For the weeks leading up to this, the leak was Whiteside. MIN is not going to leak that we are trying to get a player that only plays the position of KAT, our most valuable player who has struggled defensively at center. This is clearly a MIA leak.

Yeah, I cant boo a player, and not sure how to react if he has a great game. I will root for the Wolves but a little reluctant with this mess called a front office.

I would be stoked if we are in the hunt for that high of a playoff seed right around the trade deadline. If that did come to fruition it would only mean that the chemistry has been completely fixed, Wiggins is playing hard/well, KAT is defending, bench is performing. When this squad is humming, it has the tools to hang with the best, with Jimmy. All that being said, even if we kept Jimmy the whole year, made it to the 2nd round of the playoffs, I think he bolts. Yes, he'd be leaving serious coin on the table, but I think he wants to play with some of his "friends" on his next contract. What a gamble it would be to keep him all season (a successful one) and then HOPE he signs a deal in the off-season.
That being said, if he doesn't re-sign and we don't end up trading him, we'll have money to sign wing free agents.
SF's available next summer: T. Harris, S. Johnson, K. Oubre, R. Hollis-Jefferson, J. Layman, A. Poythress (who looks like he may finally be getting it). SG's available next summer: Lamb, Ellington, Meeks, Satoransky, R. Bullock, R. Hood.
I only identified "realistic" choices above, left the older guys and more expensive guys off the list. We'll need to find a starting wing that is close to age of our core. If we could snag Oubre and Ellington that would be pretty sweet. Point is, if we don't end up trading Butler (after a playoff run with him), we'll still have money available next summer to sign a couple nice wings....

Bolt and go where? Kyrie's staying put, Jimmy's a fool if he takes less money to play for BKN or LAC.

Jimmy will not take a penny less, he is here unless we trade his bird rights.

Yesterday I read some national writer say he thought the trade would happen before opening night. It sure seems dead, though. No on on twitter is even talking about a trade right now. Maybe this is the calm before the storm.

Let me get this straight. You're dissing a guy for questioning your trustworthiness after you guaranteed a trade at least three times that never happened?
Either your a huge troll or an absolute idiot. Either way, why would anyone ever listen to you or care what you say anymore?
Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
