It seems unlikely to me that Thibs wants more rookies that have a lower chance of contributing. I'm not sure that Thibs wants any new rookies. and from recent rumors the guy they might be looking at (Dunn) is the the one closest to being an NBA rotation player. I think the chances of trading the pick for an NBA ready player is much higher than trading the pick for two lesser picks.

It does sound like Thibs is more likely to trade for a veteran, although I don't know if I agree with that.

I still think that's mostly speculations and assumptions, but maybe I'm naive.

I'm not seeing anything from Thibs in regards to who he likes or if he'd want to trade the pick. Seems like a lot of speculation from fans and writers.

I really like hield and believe he will be the best player in this draft. Wolves need another shooter more than anything regardless of the overlap with lavine.

Add noah + turner in FA to help with facilitating the 2nd unit.

dieng/bjelicia/KG/payne
wiggins/turner/bazz

Seeing how the Sixers might be dealing both Noel and Covington in their trade talks with Atlanta, I'd be extremely happy if the Wolves entered the conversation with the 5th pick and Bazz. It's a very interesting package the one that Philadelphia might be offering.

I think it might make sense to trade down and get two rookies with higher upside rather than get one "ready to contribute rookie" but with limited upside. I mean if we get veterans who can provide shooting and defense we can afford long term projects who need time to develop or a good euro stash like Korkmaz. Saying this I understand that we need to target concrete guys like Flip did when traded Burke for Gorgui and Shabazz. I'm a bit concerned with drafting Murray, Dunn and Hield at 5, but I like Poetly, Chriss, Labissiere, Korkmaz, Davis, Jones at #7-15.
To sum up I believe in Thibs as manager, if he persuades Deng and others solid FAs to come here, we wont have much pressure to draft best "fit" guy.

It's something AP guy mentioned with Barreiro. It didn't sound like pure speculation but he didn't specifically say it wasn't.

People wanting to trade this pick for two later picks are out of their minds.

We were the youngest team in the NBA last year and we have our cornerstone pieces set in stone. We should be using our to build around Towns/Wiggins (Hield, Dunn or Bender) or be trading it for a young vet who also fits around those two.
"That's why the last two years weren't guaranteed," Walsh said. "Either way, he knew it could have happened either way."

I think Thibs likes him.

I personally wouldn't mind Dunn, but i'm not in love with the idea either.

I would be very happy drafting Dunn.

It's about value. We wouldn't have to pick 2 players if we trade back. If we moved back with Denver and could get 7/15 then I think it's a no brainer. Someone from that 2nd tier will still be there(Murray, Dunn, Hield, Brown, Bender), and we pick up another pick where we have options. Trade it for a veteran in another deal, take a guy like a Labissier, Deyonte Davis, Elleson, Diallo, who could sit while we let a stop-gap PF play for a few seasons and those guys could develop. Take someone who we can draft a stash(Kormaz, Zizac, Zubac, Luwawu possibly). Get a ready to contribute player(Valentine, Prince, Sabonis).

I wouldn't want to trade back too far that we'd miss out on one of those 2nd tier guys, but the Denver scenario would be very enticing.

I don't know that there's a huge drop off from 5-7, it's even possible Hield will still be there.

If Dunn does land here, what do you guys think will happen with Rubio?

I would not advise it for you guys, but it's what I'm hoping for. Hypothetically, if Rubio was to be moved, would you guys be seeking out a player or a pick?

Just keep Rubio and Dunn. Highly highly doubt the gift wrap him to a division rival only to make our road to the playoffs more difficult. If we had both of them we would have 48 minutes of quality point guard minutes with one guy who is the ultimate floor general entering his prime and the other a guy who can attack the paint.
