Re: [Krawczynski] Alex Rodriguez and Marc Lore in serious talks to become the next owners of the Minnesota Timberwolves
That’s just one side of the story. I don’t think they would’ve pushed for the Gobert trade. We have amazing players on very team friendly contracts. Only player that could be traded to save money is McDaniels imo whixh would be a mistake. Just cough up the dough or don’t aspire to own a competitive NBA team that is at their brightest moment of their history. There was also a good a twitter thread explaining why the tax money could be looked at as an investment. Taylor is just being a **** again leaking this information
Run n point that .32 make em sicker than magic

This year's payroll is $164M, so that wouldn't actually be lowering it at all. This isn't a cap-slashing like the Twins did this winter.
It's absolutely lowering it based on the current payroll for next year. I thought that was pretty clear, but I guess not? But right now they sit at $191 with a projected $198M. That's a $20-30M cut. Pretty significant since it costs them a significant player or two.

I'm not buying that they would set up the gobert trade knowing they it would put them in the luxury tax then they would pull the rug out.

I think everyone knew that changes would be made this summer. I think it's foolish to think otherwise.
Taylor doesn't even commit to paying the luxury tax by sending Woj this info. He's just trying to burn his supposed partners by releasing this.
And his timing couldn't be worse, and it comes in pure Minnesotan "yeah but" fashion. Yeah we're playing for the No. 1 seed, but there might be financial moves made this summer".

Is it even possible to get under the luxury tax next year? You'd have to like trade kat without taking back money somehow

Yes, Towns for picks to Detroit. Maybe it's a good thing the sales didn't go thru. This whole thing is turning into the movie "Major League". Guys we better win it this year.

That's what he wants you to think.
But again, we go back to the whole issue at hand. Glen's original claim was that Lore and Rodriguez missed benchmarks of the sale along the way. Today's news does not validate that claim. It does nothing. but sling mud hours before probably the biggest game the franchise has played since 2017 Game 82.

It would be lowering the payroll for next year from the current projected payroll for next year. Klomp we often agree on things and I admire you, but it seems to me you have zero objectivity in this matter. I'm totally cool with what the arbiter/board of governors/courts decide. I will accept the decision and move on. Every single development that has come up so far you have found a way to spin it into Glen sucks Lore/ARod are our salvation. That's just not reality.

It’s worse. The Twins are a minor league team that has to do so much more with so much less. The Wolves are a legit contender now! To say no lux after they designed the thing to be in the lux is just insane. Worse, this means they plan to dump Karl and he just found out right before the playoffs. This whole thing is a clown car full of bullshi* and asshol*s.

The Twins cap slashing came on the heels of the Twins' best postseason in 20 years.

Lore and A Rod have been going hard trying to win the PR battle with leaked information. So Glen doing it doesn't make him any more of a **** than what they have been doing.

What did today's information from Glen through Woj prove? Did it show that Rodriguez and Lore missed payments? Did it show that they breached their contract? Isn't that the point of this arbitration? Taylor is just looking for character assassination.

Both sides are trying to win the PR war. I wish neither side was. Glen is no more or no less a jerk in this matter than Lore and A Rod.

No, the expectation was that Minnesota would roll forward a season and then deal with the implications of being a Repeater-Tax team the season after (that is why not trading Wendell Moore Jr. into cap space was brain dead by Minnesota's front office). Obviously if Minnesota tanked in the First Round, that would adjust course, but the plan was never to dodge the Luxury-Tax next season; that would be ludicrous.
In reality, this situation might be ideal, given that Glen Taylor is now financially incentivized to drive up massive Luxury-Tax payments to force the broke duo into selling their shares.

You are correct. What good does this leak do. What good does the Lore/ARod leaks do? This should be worked out behind the scenes. Not in the media. Both parties IMO are fighting dirty. Objectivity please. I don't think that is possible for you. Prove me wrong please.

The Twins cap slashing came on the heels of the Twins' best postseason in 20 years.
True, but it also came in the heels of a terrible showing in the first real round of the playoffs. The fact that we had to play the best of 3 wildcard showed that we had the worst record of the division winners, and we were in the weakest division. The Twins had major holes and were not going anywhere. The Wolves are the opposite. Furthermore, this idea that either side is good or bad is BS. Glen has been leaking, A and L have been leaking. Glen has been fighting in the press (and started it in the press,) and A and L have been right there with him. They are all bad people, and they all have one true agenda, Money. This proves beyond doubt that A and L don’t give a **** about the fans or the team. If they did they wouldn’t have put us in the situation we are in financially, only to turn around and sabotage us.

Both parties should keep everything in house. There should be zero leaks. However, that's not the way it is.

Lore and Rodriguez had a right to defend themselves after the character assassination Taylor was attempting.
If the name was Kevin Garnett and not Alex Rodriguez, but all of the other facts of the situation were the same, I think people would be looking at this differently.
