This is kind of what I was talking about when referencing Ant’s increased volume of 3pt shots.

If Ant wants to lead this team he must hold himself and teammates accountable. There are no quarters or games off for the leader of a sub .500 team. Ant needs to play his heart out every night. Ant needs to stop being buddies with Julius Randle and get in his face all the time when Randle takes plays off on defense. He needs to go to Finch and demand that Randle not start, finish, or even continue to play in games where he doesn’t play with energy on defense. By now Ant should have decked Randle and Randle should have been sent home. This is how leaders inspire their team, not with empty platitudes and telling fans they need to cheer for trash effort out of multi millionaires who are failing them.

ANT is thousand of miles before he may even lace the shoes of MJ. MJ was hard with this teammate ( ask Kukoc....) but he was fair. IT does not mean that ANT don't get the potential but still not there.
The good point right now is that current adversity will show us if ANT can be a real leader or not.

This is hilarious.
Decking Randle may be a bit much, and going to Finch directly (behind Randle's back) about Randle's playing time is out there.. but, agree..
without Decking Randle, a true leader would figure out a way to bring this team together.
Bringing up internal issues to the media is not how it's done.

Another caveat to MJ, is Phil Jackson had to work with MJ to make him see the light that he had to get his teammates involved in the game if the Bulls were going to have any success for NBA titles. He made MJ see that hero ball isn't the answer. That is what great coaches do.

The punch doesn’t totally fit, but the rest is remember the titans. I posted a clip from it in one of the threads, and was feeling whimsical. I wasn’t sure if anyone would pick up on it. The and 1 was also a joke, but even though you may have missed it you still laughed so I win

Let's see if he can turn the team around as we head into the remaining 75% of the season.

He needs to lead by example. No more games off, not even any quarters off. If Ant brings the heart and listens to Finch (including following the ******* gameplan,) then he can gain some credibility as a leader.

If he was doing it behind his teammates' backs, absolutely! But per Finch, that's not the case. The stuff he said to the media, he had already said to his teammates.

Exactly right. I am gonna choose to ignore the sarcasm and say it plain this proves Ant is not a leader. If you are gonna do this, don’t have the coach act as your PR guy and make it public. At most have it off the record and let a podcaster slide it in later as a rumor. Leaders don’t need to brag about stuff like this in the press. Do you think Mike does similar stuff? Of course he does. Does he need flowers for it? Of course not. Ant will always say the right thing or put on a goofy grin for the camera. But, when it matters he will get in the wrong guys face, or stop passing, or publicly shame the team for his failures.

You believe Ant "will get in the wrong guys face" (no doubt a reference to the Toronto game), but I would argue that Gobert has played his best basketball of the season since the exchange. And interestingly enough, he has dropped his FGAs by 1.5 per game in that stretch. Everyone knows offense is not his strength, yet people going back to Utah have tried to placate him. I'd say that Ant getting in Rudy's face might actually be what Gobert needed to hear most, yet people have always been afraid to say it.
