Some Spanish site is reporting that Rubio lawyers have made an offer of about 3$ million.

They also say that Joventut is waiting for bigger offers, but that contrary to what had been published, Real Madrid hasn't offered anything. F.C.Barcelona wouldn't have made any bid, but they say Panathinaikos and Olympiakos, the super-rich Greek powers, might be interested.

They claim the offer would be "a la baja" which basically would mean they are willing to pay something more waiting for an answer from Joventut.

They also said this $3 million offer is the second offer after a $4 million offer was originally rejected prior to the draft. At that time Jovenut maintained it would not negotiate until Rubio dropped his lawsuit against the team. Rubio has yet to drop the lawsuit.

he may not drop the lawsuit, but he certainly could make statements he's returning to the team.

As said before his lawyers have offered $3 millions. The article says that he wants to play for the Timberwolves ( they dont say sources, I guess it came from the some source that spoke about the $3millon offer).

It is ironic that they offered $4 millions before the draft so DKV could end losing some money if the accept, although I wonder that probably is settled at $4

Not that much ironic. At some point before the draft they thought Rubio would go higher, so they had more money to work with.

Anyway, I don't expect Joventut to settle for $3 million. That amount would make more sense next summer. And anyway, they don't lose anything waiting for a better option in the European market.

I don't think Panathinaikos would want him. He would be the backup point guard or the third string point guard on Panathinaikos. Also, no chance in hell he would go there knowing that. Olympiacos on the other hand, I guarantee that if he is made available to them he will be playing with them for the next 2 years.

You're right, it looks like the most probable scenario. Actually, I think the buyout issue was way too overlooked by many media when projecting Rubio's position in the draft. Indeed, when the Wolves traded for their second lottery pick I thought they were a likely destination for Rubio, considering they would be able to offer to the fans another elite rookie playing for the Wolves next season, something the other teams selecting in the top-10 weren't able to provide.

He can sleep on my couch. There's food in the fridge, so he should be alright there. And I can give him a ride to practice and games.
