Seriously, am I the only one who has a major bone machine for this guy?
I think I would rather have him than Favors.

Yes... I like him, but Darko is better IMO, and I wouldn't trade Love for him... But he's a very good player!

I've been paying attention to Harden and Ibaka. I would never trade Love for Ibaka straight up. Maybe throw in Harden and I'll look into it. That's not something I support yet since I can't research this now because I'm going to be busy the rest of night.

Harden + Ibaka for Love is a slam dunk for us.

I have no idea what the Pixies song is about, but that is where I first heard "bone machine" (that, and the Tom Waits album). But I have never used it in this context until just now, it just sounded right, I guess.

Also, YES! the "major Tony Ronzone" term works very, very well in this context.

Let it be known, I've got a major Tony Ronzone for Serge Ibaka.

Before Ibaka was drafted I was pretty high on him, especially if he slipped to us in the 2nd round. This guy is sick amounts of athletic and has a ton of room to grow. If we could get him reasonably(probably not happening), I'd be all for going after the guy.

I actually would like Krstic. Hes similar to Darko, and we know how well he's worked out....I wonder what their relationship is like, both being Serbs...

I'd bet all the reasons you want him would be the same as all the reasons they'd want to keep him.

They are very close. I think Kristic may have even been one of Darko's groomsmen last summer @ Darko's wedding.

i wish we had ibaka too! he is gonna be incredible in a few years...6'10 with a 7'3 wingspan, 35" vertical, already developing a mid range jump shot, rebounds, blocks shots....massive motor - runs the floor like a demon and he won't turn 21 until september...dude is a beast!! i think he'd probably be a top 10 pick in the draft if he entered this year....and check out the article, working on his jump shot and 3 point shot, he will be amazing in a few years...if we got ibaka AND harden for love it would seriously probably go down as the single greatest(for us) and worst(for them) trades in nba history, not even kidding

I'm really serious about this Tony Ronzone I have for Serge Ibaka.

I realize getting him won't be cheap, but of all big-man prospects in the draft or other potential acquisitions being discussed in other threads, I want Serge the most, by a wide margin.

I really think that his ceiling is a poor man's Dwight Howard on defense with more versatile offensive potential and a better motor.

My priorities for this offseason:
1. Get Evan Turner. Do whatever it takes.
2. Get Serge Ibaka. Do whatever it takes.

Since we won't know what "it takes" to get Evan Turner until at least May 18 or the draft itself, it is difficult to predict what assets we will have left to throw at OKC. But let's just say we stay at #2 in the lottery and don't have to use any assets to get Evan Turner. In this scenario I would be willing to give up quite a bit to get Ibaka.

So, let's think about what OKC might like. They could really use an offensive post presence, and some toughness down low. Pekovic? They could use more shooting. Ellington? Rebounding. Love? Some veteran influence. Gomes?

I'm no salary guru, so I'm not going to assemble any hypothetical trades, I'm just brainstorming and listing assets that I would be willing to give up in a package for Ibaka.

Of course, OKC will be a dangerous team for a long time and I don't want to make a trade that would make them even better. I'm just convinced that taking Ibaka off their hands will be something we wouldn't regret, while they would regret letting him go.

I will admit that I am a bit preoccupied with defense. Watching Milwaukee and OKC in their first round series really hammered home the point for me that success in basketball starts with defense. I really strongly believe that we can keep only one of Al or Love, and even then we will need to surround whichever one we keep with a very good defensive team.

This is all assuming we resign Darko, which I think is almost a given at this point. With Darko an Al or Love, I think Ibaka is the perfect third big for us. He is athletic enough to step out and shut down athletic 4s, he is tough enogh (and long enough) to provide above average post defense on 5s. He is a very, very good weakside shot blocker.

Offensively he has great shooting form and already has a pretty reliable midrange jumper, and he is even working on his three point range. With his mechanics and his work ethic, I see no reason to believe that he couldn't become as good a shooter as Love, for example. His athleticism is off the charts, and he doesn't seem to rush anything.

Rubio makes Ndong look like Amare. I think that Rubio could make Serge Ibaka look better than Amare. I guess that's the bottom line.

Or you could just go after Kevin Seraphin if he stays in. Looks a lot like Ibaka.

Might be an option if we're willing to trade Love.

If we were given the #2 pick and could get Turner, I would strongly consider and likely do, trade Love+ the 16th to move into the position to take Favors.

He is bigger, more athletic, and a worlds away better defender. Having a Kidd-type pg in Rubio makes me think that Kidd worked great with Martin/Amare. Favors improves our defense, is still a decent rebounder, and would bring that athletic ability.

I like love, but I think this is the type of swing for the fence deal. Even if Rubio does not come over it would give us a foundation of Favors and Turner.

a trio of rubio, turner and favors would be an absolutely sick trio to build around, probably the 1st or 2nd best young trio in the league

Even better when you consider the pass-happy transition offense.
