PF/C Prospects Poll:

Who do you guys want out of these four? Take into account their likelihood of reaching their upside, current skill level, and their draft range (Udoh and Whiteside require a trade-up to their respective ranges which are included next to their names).

Voice your opinion in the poll, and then if you want give an explanation, even if only one or two sentences, as to why you voted that. Also, forgive me if you've seen this question posted on one or more other places, but I want to make sure I get the opinion of a variety of different people.

(Don't forget to vote in the poll  )

Udoh. I think that even though he might not have the highest ceiling of the group, he has the highest floor.

Udoh probably. I've never seen Whiteside play, but his 5.4 bpg really stand out. I have tough time deciding between those two.

Whiteside. My first choice would be Aldrich but that would require acquiring another top 6 pick.

I want size and shot blocking. Whiteside can provide both, is a solid rebounder and a great athlete.
Envision him fitting well with Darko and Al or Love.

Of course there is a bust potential but we should take that risk.

I disagree. If we are going to trade up for someone, I think we need to be sure that the bust potential is low. We can't afford to use our assets to move up, only for that guy to be a bust. Now we're set back that player who busted, and the players/picks we used to acquire them.

(For the record, Whiteside is my second favorite player on that list.)

Also, I'd add Montiejunas into the discussion with the addition of this Tony guy.

Added a reminder in the initial post, but don't forget to vote in the poll.

Klomp, I kept the list to these four players because they all basically would fill a similar type of role and likely have varying opinions of them.

I picked Udoh as he's a perfect fit for the Triangle, but too much of this depends on what happens to Jefferson/Love.

But I'm curious, why is anyone high on Whiteside? He has some serious maturity issues, is a 20 yr old freshman and is as dumb as a brick. Not exactly what teams look for in a back up.

5.4 blocks per game, as a freshman.

Udoh, and it's not even close. I'd probably put Whiteside last of the group. In 10 games against quality opponents he had 0 assists. That is dang near impossible to do. And with a young team like ours it only take one or two bad apples to turn us into a remix of the jailblazers.

You didn't have to reduce down to quality opponents, he had like 9 assists on the season.

You didn't ask about Whiteside's attitude so he is by far better than any of the people in the poll.

I like Danial Orton has the best chance to be good/great out of all these guys just a opinion

He is fairly nimble, runs the court, can get off his feet, has a solid second bounce and very good hands on top of that He is pretty quick, I saw a pretty good post game with good moves and a good NBA body, runs the floor, very good leaping ability, also great hands.

If he would have played at Ohio State, Oklahoma or Oklahoma State I think he would have been a top 10 pick.

It's still 5.4 blocks per game. If he had zero character issues he's probably considered in the top 8.

The more I hear, the more I like re Orton.

I would prefer to take the char pick and combine with an asset (Love/Flynn/Pek) in order to move back into the top 5.

If we keep the pick, swing for the fences and clearly that is Orton, or one of the other bigs (Dont) that fall.

And he's still more developed then the already weak competition he faced. But with his character issues, which make his chances of busting a lot worse, his twig like body, his stupidness and the fact that even with all of those blocks he couldn't actually defend anyone, I can't understand how he rates in the top 20. I get you need to take risks sometimes, but it's like driving a car over a cliff. Sure, you might survive, but something bad's going to happen either way.
