Draft Day Trade

Post#1 » by MUpacersSIC » Tue May 4, 2010 10:12 pm

I'm sorry if you guys have a trade thread, didn't see one. Would you guys trade your 16th and 23rd picks for the Pacers 10th overall? Just curious.

I think we could make other moves to get better potential value, but if we did not like another option I would do this trade.

So yes.

I agree with rev, but I think you're offering a very fair trade, which puts you head and shoulders above most RealGM posters. Bravo, sir.

Depends on two things: 1) who we get with our pick and 2) who is available at 10.

If we get a big with our pick, then I don't see a player that we would trade up for at #10 unless Johnson or Aminu fell, which seems unlikely at this point (but who knows come draft time).

If we get a guard/wing with our pick, then I think we would trade up for whichever player was available at 10 -- Udoh, Davis, Monroe, Aldrich, Johnson, or Aminu. I see a drop in value after the 10 spot so I think that is a worthwhile spot to trade up to.

I think we trade up regardless. I'm still banking on getting #2 pick and Turner. The #10 could net any one of those guys. But at 16 and 23? Who knows.

If we end up with Cousins or Favors, I'm liking the idea of Wes Johnson, and at this point his value seems to be fluctuating quite a bit. The #10 might nab him. Or maybe Xavier Henry?

Depends on what assets we have to use to trade up for Turner.

Hopefully the lottery gives us #2. In that case, this would probably be strongly considered.

I don't think WJ falls past 6. If we net Turner + Johnson I'll run down Washington naked. By then my beard should be long enough to cover my junk. BTW, I'd do this trade. But fans outside of MN will balk.

As mentioned, depends on who is available at 10, but probably.

I would do it right now. At worst, we would draft Udoh or Henry.

I don't think i would trade up for Henry. If we do that I think we are reaching for fit. I would rather role the dice on Motiejunas at 16 and Seraphin at 23 than trade them both for Henry.

Sounds like a reasonable move for both teams and assumes a player of great value would be available to the Wolves. Safe to say keeping 3 draft picks is highly unlikely unless there are major players involved.

DX, NBAdraft, and ESPN all have Motiejunas being drafted anywhere from #10 to #14. Even Milwaukee could draft Montiejunas at #15. If I had to keep number 23, I would stick with Ebanks.

This thread needs a poll

Fair value, but I would not do it unless Wes Johnson fell out of the top 10 or we were really high on Xavier Henry. Personally I think the centers after Aldrich (other than Udoh) have enormous bust potential, and I'm not sold on Udoh at all as a starting C in this league.
Motiejunas is pretty thin for the NBA, he's not a center.

I would hope Henry fell to 16, if not I'd take Paul George there, then wait to see who fell to 23.
There's a good chance a center project will fall, or a sg/sf will be there.
James Anderson
Stanley Robinson
Gordon Hayward
Eric Bledsoe
Luke Babbitt
Eliot Williams
Avery Bradley
Willie Warren
Devin Ebanks.

Of course this all depends on how the draft lottery shakes out. We may have to use both 16 and 23 to move up for turner.

Question for the pacers fan,
would you do this trade:
Nikola Pekovic, #23
for
#10.

Pekovic has lottery pick talent.

This.

If we get a big with our pick, there doesn't look to be wing talent worth trading both #16 and #23 for, given the wings that will likely be available at #16 and #23. The only wing in this draft worth trading up for is Turner.

I'll bump this like the Curry thread, next year.

Watch Henry beast it up after getting picked at #15. That would just be our luck.

In actuality I don't know if #16 + #23 would get us the #10, but I wouldn't mind a little consolidating.

The Wolves really need to consolidate some of these picks, dump some players, or at least draft Euros who don't plan on coming over yet. We have possibly 9 players coming back, most of which are 2nd and 3rd year players, add 5 rookies to that and we have a recipie for disaster with no room for a couple of vets. How many could we possibly win with Jefferson and Gomes as the teams elder statesmen; bombing out the season doesn't look like a good idea with the Clippers owed pick looming.
