Got to catch a plane, but here's a quickie for you:
MIA GIVES: Jones + Cook + Beasley + 1st
MIA GETS: Cap Space
NOH GIVES: Songalia (exp)
NOH GETS: Jones (waived)
MIN GIVES: Cap Space
MIN GETS: Beasley + 1st + Songalia (exp) + Cook (exp)
MIA uses Beasley to erase even more cap space for 2010, and it may help them add an additional elite free agent for Wade.
NOH is over the lux, so waiving Jone's partially guaranteed deal saves them $3 mil in 2010. Double it for lux, and note they also get close to saving another $3 mil in lux share, and they would save $9 mil, by taking on $4 mil in future salary.
MIN: I'd certainly look for other alternatives first (I am NOOO Beasley fan), but if we were going to sell the cap space for only one year, getting Beasley and a 1st seems like a decent price.

nice to get rid of Jones too, but I think its going too far to get rid of Beasley. He might not be worth that #2 pick, but he's still shown offensive talent and I'd guess there's still plenty of teams in the NBA willing to give up a respectable return if Miami wants to trade him.

Plane probably means you can't answer, but I'll ask anyway:
Does 1st mean Miami's 1st this year, which would actually already be whoever they took in this year's draft by the time this trade could happen or is it a future first that you didn't feel like making specific?
Great deal, obviously. Beasley still has value, even to us. The New Orleans portion is a really smart addition. They want to get under the lux and don't care about swapping role players to do it. We'd rather pay our junk role player for one year rather than have the Jones partially guaranteed contract cut into our cap space for the next three years. And if Miami can be convinced that they need to give us Beasley and their pick in order to make this happen, well that's even better.

I want no part of Beasley. I don't care how good the deal looks.

I like it, provided we can still re-sign Darko, and move Beasley for something of value (rudy gay s&t?).
Make the pick from MIA the pick the raps owe them (top 14 prot).
I think Miami will be better served dangling Beasley in a S&T though, for bosh, amare, gay, or someone like that.

But for $11 mil cap space to get another free agent for Wade, and future savings down the line? I think that's a bargain.
I don't think MIA can move both Jones and Cook with just a future 1st and $3 mil in cash .. too much longterm debt on Jones deal.
Good call John Doe - I was working this out on the trade board (the MIA part) with a future 1st. Using the current 1st (pick) would save more cap space though, but you're right .. the new team would have to like the guy MIA picked.

Re: MIA-MIN-NOH
I myself would really like a future pick, or a second deal to consolidate some of our picks. we'd be looking at 6 rookies on the roster in addition to Rub, Henk, Pek. (granted next to zero chance of Rubio or Henk coming over)

Re: MIA-MIN-NOH
Sign me up for that deal if we haven't got better offers to spend our cap space.
