Wolves might take Turner #1

Chad Ford has a new article where he's claiming that Wolves will take Turner at number 1 over Wall. I don't have insider, but based on the brief preview that I can read, it looks like ridiculous, baseless speculation.
Would someone that does have insider please say if Ford actually has any sources, or is he just throwing crap at the wall?

It's pretty worthless.
He says that he "heard from a source in Evan Turner's camp" that the Wolves have "sent signals to Turner" that if the Wolves win the lottery, they would pick Turner over Wall.
In other words, he's either making it up, or he actually thinks that shadowy, 3rd hand "rumors" are great sources.

Kind of what I figured.

it'd make sense based on Kahn's ever-present stiffy for Rubio and also the repeated rhetoric about needing an iso scorer that can carry the offense when things are going rough

wolves wouldnt pick turner #1, however..
if they pick #3 or #4 I think Kahn will go all out to get Turner, whether thats moving 2 of their first round picks or brewer or pekovic or flynn or what have you.
I think Kahn is targeting Turner if Wall is gone, regardless of where they pick.

Chad also said that there's no guarantee when or if Rubio will ever play for them (Wolves).

Picking Wall to trade and ending up with Turner makes sense. Picking Turner #1 doesn't.

I think it's safe to assume that there is no way we pick Turner #1. Khan is value obsessed, and I'm sure he would be able to ransom Wall off to #2 if we did end up with first pick and we really did want Turner. Khan would probably rationalize it as added incentive to get Rubio over here, which is fine by me if it works... This is of course entirely academic, as we all know we will end up picking #5 and take Cole Aldrich. This IS the Timberwolves we're talking about after all.

How does it work with trading a drafted player? You can obviously make a move DURING the draft, but what about after July 1st? Is there any amount of time that a pick has to stay on the roster after being drafted (didn't we have to wait to potentially trade Foye in a deal for Iverson)?

1. The Wolves picking Turner #1 is highly likely IMO ... we'd acquire a nice asset in the process, so technically we'd pick #2... depends on how you want to look at it. The Wolves need to sell Wall $$.
2. I stronly feel Walls willingness to come to MN is very low ... already made known to Wolves Brass.
2. The duo of Rubio and Turner would be terrific ... draft some defense with #16 and #23 and roll.

1.) Dewey there is no indication that Wall would not play here.
2.) In a classic offense Wall would be the choice, but the triangle offense is all about a dominate wing player and turner simply has more value there. Unless we can trick the #2 to trade up we would likely take Turner first.

I hope he is wrong about this
but let tomorrow happen first before we hear so and so won't play here!

That's exactly right...if we get one, and truly think Rubio is coming, the #2 might/would likely see right thru it and know we are only after turner and therefore taking him #1 would be our only choice...and it's not like that would be the end of the world lol...we would just get turner without an extra asset...but with our history of lottery luck, if we get the number one pick and taking turner at 1 is our biggest concern, I'll be a happy man! haha

The leverage would not be convincing the #2 that we would grab turner, but convincing the #2 that we will trade out to another team that will take wall. If they really want Wall it could make them bite. I would rather just take Turner and not get fancy.
Of course, I would love to have this problem....We will know this time tomorrow.
(btw, Rubio will come)

I think there's a misconception that Minnesota fans wants to have the #2 pick instead of the #1. Well, if fans don't want to read articles about Kahn drafting ANOTHER point guard, than maybe they have a point.

With Fegan representing both Wall and Rubio, I have to believe it's nearly guarenteed that both Rubio and Wall will not be Wolves.
If we did take Wall, we could package Rubio and recruit LeBron ... ???

Yeah I agree....especially if ricardo gets his ass over here....then whey mess around, just take turner and lets roll!! It can't be any worse than taking oden over durant.

The situation is very similar. The way Oden got all the hype, I can easily compare that to John Wall. We gotta take Turner.
