The Workouts will determine everything

We really don't know who that beast player is that isn't Wall or Turner. However workouts will give us a better opinion. Remember how Evans just blew everybody away last year? let's hope we find that guy this off-season. We really don't know what a player is made out of until they are thrown out there and stacked up against the others. Someone will emerge.

Hopefully Cousins will absolutely dominate workouts so either Favors or Turner drops to us.

It would be interesting to see how Johnson's handles have improved and how AFA has improved his jumper. Unless we have a pre-arranged move for one of our current bigs then those 2 are our likely targets.

That would be very depressing.

Yes it would. Johnson is 22 and his ceiling should be no higher than the 3rd best player on a championship team. I like how he fits next to Jefferson and Rubio, but I think Brewer would then have to be traded. What could we get for Brewer + Love? Problem there is trading two fan favorites because of fit.
Aminu, in my opinion, projects as a 4, or a close to the basket 3. The last thing this team needs is a project SF that has to develop his perimeter skills. Yuck.
I'm not sure what's going to happen, but I would expect more trades than last year.
Potential Trades:
1. w/ Nets: Love + something (16?) for Favors
2. w/ Detroit: Cousins for Johnson + 2011 #1
3. w/ GS: Love for Johnson
4. w/ Philli: Cousins + 16 + Kapono for Turner (Best case scenario?)

Aminu supposedly has good handles (I have seen some open court stuff) but would be a risk with his jumper. He is the high risk---high reward pick. Johnson would be the safe pick. Aminu is a 3.

Wing scoring is my priority right now. Who best brings that?

Aminu is a project 3. Ty Thomas was once a project 3. His handles are good for a 4, not for a 3. His handles are definitely below average for a 3. He has a straight line dribble drive, but not much else.
HoWo, Kid, someone back me up on this.

Agreed. That might get me close to my breaking point.

Probably Johnson, although I don't know that he's a go-to kind of guy. And then it probably drops to Henry/George/Anderson for scorers.
We better at least draft George in the teens; that would go a tiny way towards making me feel better about getting boned yet again in the lottery.

See, Inspector Wang of the Catalina Police knows where it's at.

I agree on the handle. He's a threat to go from coast-to-coast, and can make a move or two when he has all that space to work with, but in the half court he isn't a guy you want taking more than two dribbles or trying to change direction. Similar to a Shawn Marion.

2 thoughts.
1.) Aminu has much better handles, passing and overall playmaking/awareness then Thomas did. He is not amazing, but he is better.
2.) Thomas failed because he had the attitude issues. He is still powerful on defense, but his offense did not improve. Aminu is already working (DX article)

Might be a strange question but if Cousins dominates workouts, shouldn't the team be wanting him here? Otherwise it's like saying you're glad Evans dominated so Flynn fell to us.

Meh, I don't think workouts will determine much that we already don't know. Clearly, Wall and Turner are the most polished and NBA ready, Favors and Cousins both could be great NBA players, after that it's a crapshoot. It's not like the media purposefully singles out 2 major prospects/concensus picks every year in order to boost ratings with an A vs B theme. The Rose,Beas,Mayo,Westbrook,Love draft was an exception.

Right. We shouldn't draft anyone other than Turner, Cousins or Favors.
I'd trade up for Aldrich, Henry and Johnson but no chance I select them with our pick or even trade down.

Looking strictly at talent, yes, I'd love to have Cousins here. But he has plenty of red character flags.

I bet Cousins will work out, and measure, very well. He's a raw physical talent, not an "intangibles" guy at all. In fact, quite the opposite. Intangibles are why you don't draft him, and no workout will change them.

I think it comes down to fit, chemistry, and long term potential.
Favors defense, mobility, and athleticism makes him a better fit for us than Cousins. He doesn't have any character issues from what I've read, so there should be better chemistry with Favors. As far as long term potential, I would expect Cousins to have a better rookie season and to look better in workouts, but I think Favors will be the better player in 5 years.
