Its an interesting deal.

Nocioni isn't worth his contract, and he isn't an expiring ($6,850,000 in 2010, and $6,650,000 2011), but the deal creates about $6 mil in additional raw cap space this year, that we might be able to trade for more value. Not sure how I feel about adding the #23.

I think this is comparable value to the Prince (exp) + #7 deal that many people like.

Yeah, the Prince deal is better. But the cap room cleared this year gives me pause... and having 4 & 5 together would be great in this draft if we already had a franchise guy to build around.

but who do you draft at #5? I don't like Johnson or Aminu that much and drafting another big seems redundant.

I think it's a great deal for both teams and I'd have to think Philly would be pretty interested in adding two quality players with the #4 and #5 ... then they'd just keep Iggy. Not sure what else would have to be done to make it fly (a pig?).

I would do that deal in a milisecond if offered. That is excellent value for Al, and makes Cousins fit.
We could take Johnson/Cousins.

I think it will more likely take something like love/gomes for nocioni/5 or flynn/pekovic/gomes for nocioni/5.

Better value, but Wes Johnson doesn't get past Sacto or GS at 5 and 6.

If we did this could we package 4/5 to get #2? We need a franchise player so bad, and really IDC what it takes to get one. We have 3 1sts, cap space and Love, Rubio, Flynn to acquire more talent or build more around.

do it
then use 4 and 5 to move up to Turner Territory (it's a beautiful territory. Rolling hills, green fields, lot of nymphs. Not naked but you can pretty much see everything)

I like #7 and Prince better too. Gives us even more options with 4,7,16,23, and a large expiring of a useful player like Prince. If we can't use those pieces for Turner, then go crazy and flip #16 and Flynn/Sessions to Indy for #10 and go 4-Johnson, 7-Monroe, 10-Henry, 23-#2PG (Bradley, Bledsoe, Warren, Collins)
PG: Flynn/Sessions, Rookie
SG: Henry, Brewer, Ellington
SF: Johnson, Prince
PF: Love, Peko
C: Darko, Monroe

Another year before Rubio so let's just stock pile youth and cap space.

I thought you were flipping 4 and 7 for Turner? If we did that then I'd just keep 16 and hope George would fall to us.

Flynn-Sessions(Rubio)
George(says he is a 2 at the next level), Ellington
Turner, Brew
Love,Serpahin(#23 hopefully)
Darko-Hollins

Man I just hope Kahn sees how bad that we NEED Turner... :(

Kahn won't be the problem... Philly desperately needs to be rebuilt, and that's a lot more palatable process for the fans with someone like Turner on board. They can just let Dalembert expire (or flip him at the deadline), find takers for Brand and Iggy etc.

I think it would take more than the 4 & 5 to get Turner.

Here's a shot in the dark.

Step #1
Wolves trade: Al Jefferson + #16
Wolves Receive: Andre Iguodala + #7
Pistons trade: #7 + Prince
Pistons Receive: Al Jefferson
76ers trade: Andre Iguodala
76ers Receive: Prince + #16

Why for Wolves: They get a similar player to Turner in Iggy, and get the #7 to package to move up.
Why for Pistons: Pistons fans and Wolves fans like this deal.
Why for 76ers: They shed Iggy's long-term salary, get another pick, and get a complimentary player to Turner in Prince.

Step #2
Wolves trade: #7 + Brewer (+ #45?)
Kings trade: #5 + Greene

Wolves pick Wes Johnson at #5 to go along with Greene to firm up the SF position.
Kings pick Aldrich, Monroe or Davis. Get an improved defender at SF/SG in Brewer.

Wolves Roster:
Flynn/Sessions
Iggy/Ellington
Johnson/Greene
Love/Cousins
Darko/Pekovic

I would take on Nocionni and 5 for Al and the later pick in a heart beat.

You save big money this and next year and you can add another rookie or find a way to package 5 and Love to PHI for the rights to 2.

Draft Turner and Cousins.

PHI gets Wes Johnson.

Comparing the DET and SAC deal side-by-side:

Pay $6 mil now + $6 mil cap room now and $6 mil later > $11 mil expiring

#5 > to >> # 7

Nocioni < Prince, but who cares?

#23 < no pick

Another way to look at it is that we get two years of Nocioni for the price of one year of Prince.

I think the deals are comparable, and really depends on who you think will be drafted #5 and #6.

There is no way the Kings trade down for Al Jefferson and the 23rd using the 5th pick. That doesn't even sound responsible.

The Kings have a ton of wing players so trading Greene for Brewer isn't appealing. It isn't bad value. It just seems like if the Kings wanted to move back in the draft they should just deal directly through Detroit @ 7 or another team. As a Kings fan I see picking Wes Johnson @ 5 a better solution than both of those trades.

I was hoping that the Wolves would pick Johnson as from an outsider's POV it looks like Cousins isn't the best fit for your club.

I want Greene if we're giving up #23 and taking Nocioni's contract. I know they will probably disagree, but with Johnson still we are putting all of our eggs in one basket.

I think the value is right, but to cash on on the DET deal, Prince needs to go to a team where he has more value there than here .. ie. more than just worth an expiring. I don't think PHI will be able to take advantage of Prince's skill over the next year when they will likely be pretty mediocre. Maybe they would do it to simply get out of the length of Iguodala's deal?

Its a pretty interesting deal - certainly worthy of its own thread.
