Cousins' interviews

Post#1 » by PHTown » Fri May 21, 2010 4:24 am

I'm interested in hearing others' opinions about Cousins interviews. Here is a link to a summary from real gm:

http://realgm.com/src_feature_pieces/90 ... t_combine/

I was not a fan at all of adding a guy with potential attitude issues. However, as I watched interviews of him, I have to admit I'm coming around. The dude has charisma and is genuinely funny. For some reason he reminds me of Paul Pierce, who as you all may recall had some attitude issues early on and has become a consumate teamate and professional. You could tell the media was entertained by Cousins as well. I think at the very least the guy should be interesting to watch.

The wolves have gone for character guys again and again over skill. It has not worked to say the least. I'm down to role the dice on Cousins. I'd rather have a guy with some potential anger issues than a guy who is nice but subpar. I keep thinking of Wade and Pierce and how those two just got pissed in the finals and went off, leading their teams to the championships.

Or maybe I'm just trying to talk myself into this one. How do you all feel about it?

The maturity issues are definitely a concern, but with the state of our team, we just can't afford to pass on one of the top talents in the draft for a dramatically inferior talent.

It's not related to the combine interviews, but here's a video I found of Cousins just interacting with people on the streets of New York

He seems like a nice, charismatic dude.

The way I see it with Cousins is on the court it looks it really hurts losing( Maybe thats a good thing right now) but he seems alright to me. I would be able to root for him as a fan.

I hope he makes it to 4. Honestly, I would rather have him than Favors.

I'm really warming up to the idea of adding Cousins to our frontcourt and building around Cousins/Love for the future. I guess when it comes to attitude concerns, I'm more worried about motivational issues like drive (B-Easy) than I am about maturity issues (Cousins). As long as we have some veteran presence to help control Cousins I think we could get a real steal with him at #4.

Yeah Cousins is definitely looking better now the lottery depression is wearing out. Although I think if you pick Cousins you won't be keeping either of Love or Jefferson, especially not in this offence.

Seems to be very honest, chip on his shoulder, and noticably lost weight.

WEll he definitely doesn't seem like a shy background player. That guy is going have a lot to say and probably a big influence good or bad.

I like Cousins as a player but if he was to come in and stay, I doubt we sign Darko as well. And I would rather have Darko and Wes Johnson then Cousins.

I think Darko is a good enough defender to play against some of the better 4's. We would obviously have problems against guys like Lamar Odom when the play him at the 4, but we would put a lot of these stretch 4's in a lot of foul trouble with that type of size.

From what I saw, Darko was better at stepping out and guarding perimeter players than either Al or Love, so I think he'd be fine playing 10-15 minutes a game at the 4.
