Nice old article about Cousins' character issues

Post#1 » by Tirion » Fri May 21, 2010 1:44 pm

NBA scouts know that Cousins has all the tools to be a dominant force at the next level and help turn a dormant program into a winner. But some of them also wonder whether Cousins has anger management issues that could cause him to implode.

“Ask all 30 teams about DeMarcus Cousins’ temper and you’ll get 30 different answers,” an NBA executive said last weekend. “I think that whole issue is overblown.

“From the first game of the season to the NCAA tournament, people have been sitting on the edge of their chairs waiting for that kid to mess up, and he hasn’t.

“Instead he just continues to kick some serious ass.”

Cousins knows his size and tattoos make for an intimidating look, but he says he’s approachable and will talk to anyone – whether he’s walking through campus or eating crab legs at Hooters with Wall and Bledsoe. The players refer to themselves as “Three Amigos.”

and they inadvertently just proved the guy with the real character issues is Patrick Patterson. Why isn't he in their group? What, like you're so good?

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

I was responding to Devilz's comment about Patrick Patterson, not the article.

Thanks for the articles Tirion. I'm starting to warm to the idea of Cousins. My biggest concern was his attitude but I'm starting to get convinced that it won't be an issue. He may be intense on the court and he may lose his cool at times but it's not like the Timberwolves have never had a big man like that before.

And his nickname is "The Big Ticket".

I'm telling you, there are signs all around.

I've done a complete 180 on Cousins over the last couple of days. It is now to the point that if we don't get him I'm going to be pissed. A talented big man who didn't start playing until relatively late is a great sign historically for durability: Olajuwan, Duncan etc..(not counting bynum's goofy a**). The dude has been facing Hack a shaq and harrassment since the day he started playing? Why would he even continue? The fact that he did shows that he actually really loves basketball.

Issues smissues. Like an anger problem is really the worst thing to have. I like passion, as long as hes not an Artest or Stephon Jackson type.....but that's not an anger issue, that just plain old fashioned crazy. If it does turn out that he's a baby, Rambis doesn't seem like the kind of guy who would put up with that, so I think as a team the Wolves are covered in regards to dealing with personalities.

Toss Amare into that as well.

I really think we should just take Cousins and then George or Anderson at 16 now. Everyone probably got tired of me posting the lets trade up to get Turner, well now I'm cooled on the idea and say lets stay put and see who falls to us. Now I'm to the point where if it's not Cousins I might be pretty mad, but Favors would be okay too. Then try to move up a few spots, grab George so we can assure ourselves of getting him.

Cousins is really nicknamed the big ticket? so awesome, he has ballhandling and passing skills as well.
