I can't imagine Detroit being that interested in Cousins. I'd do it, though, and I think it's good for Philly, too.

I had a hard time w/ Detroit because of Villanueva on their roster, but the final roster looks nicer to me:
Cousins/Brand/Prince/Rip/Stuckey/6th man Charlie V
vs
Aldrich/Villanueva/Prince/Gordon/Stuckey/6th man Rip
Gordon wasn't that great for them and Brand's contract is a year shorter, so it shouldn't be too huge a stretch for them; especially when comparing a guy like Udoh or Aldrich vs Cousins

Nice trade there. Detroit might be hesitant to take on Brand, but they get rid of Gordon and they need a bigman so they'd get two here. Sixers get a shooter that they need really bad...

Interesting. I'd mentioned that one of the advantages for PHI to trade Dalembert would be to replace him with Cousins.
Makes me think I might do this:
#2 + Dalembert + Kapono + "some prospect"
#4 + Jefferson + $6 mil in raw cap space
Its pretty expensive though, but there's no Brand involved.
Interesting swing sending Brand to DET, and McDyess has helped them in the past (though at a realistic price)

that could work too, I was trying to find a way to get MN's cap space involved in the 3 way, but couldn't come up w/ anything;in the end I figured getting Ben Gordon would make it an easier sell for Philly to their fans and coach Collins, but honestly, moving Brand is a money move so it might not make sense to take back both Jefferson and Gordon. Not sure where Philly is right now - do they want to continue to try and get big name talent, or do they want to shed salary

That's a good question. They got crushed financially last year despite being the #4 market in the US. Until they got the #2 pick, I would have said there was a 95% chance they'd be sure to be under the lux this season. However, I'm sure Evan Turner hype will sell tickets too and maybe he can cut into some of their financial problems.

I think they'll still need to win some games before things change, Turner isn't a big enough name for the average fan to get excited about.

I think Devilz's proposal makes sense just from the fact that Gordon didn't really work in Detroit and Philly's options for moving Brand are limited. Very well thought out deal.
Shrink's isn't bad either. However, with Dally expiring this year would getting Cousins mean so much more to Philly than say Aldrich at #7 that they'd stick with Brand if they got presented both options? The $6 million in savings is significant though so possibly.

Dalembert would be interesting on this team. I think Darko would still be the starter (which I am cool with), Dalembert and Pekovic off the bench would be great. We can still use 16 and 23 to figure out a way to get George here as well.
Darko - Dalembert
Love - Pekovic
George - Kapono
Turner - Ellington
Flynn - Sessions

viewtopic.php?f=14&t=1013041I threw the idea up on DET's board about taking Brand with the #2 or in a three way. Their best offer so far is about:

Is that something we can work with?

That's tougher. Maybe:
MN in: #2, Sam Dalembert, Maxiell
MN out: #4, Al Jefferson, Gomes
Detroit in: #4, Elton Brand, Gomes
Detroit out: #7, Rip, Ben Gordon, Maxiell
Philly in: #7, Rip, Ben Gordon, Al Jefferson
Philly out: #2, Elton Brand, Sam Dalembert
I don't think Maxiell kills us as a short PF off the bench, since we shed a lot of salary next year. I'd look at packaging Maxiell with Flynn and #16 to Indiana for #10 and TJ Ford's expiring.

just read a link on the Bucks board to a Hollinger article that says the slotting for the 2 pick puts the 6ers in the luxury tax, as a team under the cap, the best trade potential is going to involve us taking back some salary. Either Brand to another team in a 3 way, or else dealing straight up with them. Philly fans will be pissed if it was something like 2/Kapono for the 4, but I wonder if we could pull of something like Jefferson/Brewer/4 for Dalembert/Iguodala/2? Sets MN up w/ a very very nice 5 if we're rolling out Rubio/Turner/Iggy/Love/Darko w/ Pekovic and Flynn in the pipes too. The time to take advantage of teams' financial problems is now - before the new CBA when teams start feeling better about their economic landscape. I hope Philly fans don't read this, this is a trade team owners like and nobody else

I dont see Detroit having any interest in this. If MN isnt willing to take on Brand for #2, why do you think Pistons would do it for the #4

From what I've read, Piston fans still are high enough on Gordon to keep him. Charlie V, Rip and Prince are who they want gone.

Gordon isn't garbage
Niether is Max nor Rip
Elton Brand is one of the most horrific contracts in the league, Pistons wont absorb him to move up 3 spots in the draft and at the cost of Gordon
Rip and CV are the guys Pistons want gone and even then holding onto them for a little while is not crippling them

I don't think any of those guys would get better than 60% of their current contracts if they were free agents, so I don't see much difference. Most valuable guy is Ben Gordon, 6'2" jump shooting off guard who shot 32% from 3 last year, nobody wants that either

Gordon just had surgery in the offseason because he played injured for the majority of the season, he is still VERY much a part of Detrotis future. Brand is easily the worst contract off all 3 players and would be the hardest to move. And Maxiel put up 7 & 5 in 20 mins with good defense and is making 5 million- he won't be hard to move at all.

he's apart of their future because they have no other choice, doesn't mean they'd do the contract all over again if they had the chance
