There is a post over at Twolves blog about a cap clearing move by the Heat to clear capspace for Wade, Lebron and Bosh who are having a virtual summit prior to signing.

Beasley is only special if he could have been an attacking SF in the mello mode. He is not.

No...I don't think Kahn would at all. I know he's set this summer up to either get a bigger FA...or help another team get space for a prime FA...giving us a pick or player we value. If the best he can net with our cap space is Beasley...then he's truly only pretending to be smart.

Here's the deal on this sort of trade:

For any team that can turn raw cap space into an elite free agent, its worth it to trade mnost anything to get the job done. However, it will be the free agents that decide. If LeBron says to the Heat, "I'll come play with Wade, but you have to make the cap space for me to bring Bosh" you may be able to expect Miami to say, OK! If the Heat keep Beasley, they can't come close to a deal. They may also have a team like TOR take those players back in a sign-and-trade, so they have that option too. What MIA doesn't want to happen would be for CHI to say "MIN will trade us the cap space, so LeBron, if you want to bring in Bosh, we can accommodate that too.

If this deal was to happen, its going to be with a free agent in place, and I suspect it would fit this criteria:

1. Jones for Songalia

MIA turns Jones into an expiring, and NOH releases Jones on his partially guaranteed deal before June 30th to reduce their lux, and save more money than the buy-out.

2. Beasley + Songalia + Cook + MIA 1st for raw cap space

Moving the 1st helps them outbid other teams for the cap space, and it also removes the additional money in the cap hold's guaranteed salary.

Now, for a team that has no better use for the cap space (and MIN may fit that position), expirings and a couple assets may be a decent return (if no other team outbids it). For MIA, those assets are certainly worth less than being able to sell LEBron and Bosh on the team.

Depends on how he feels on Beasley. I still think he's got potential as a Jamison type of power forward with a bit more of an ability to play small forward then Antwan could. But unless you're sure he's going to reach it I wouldn't bother.

Again...if all Kahn can net from the cap space is Beasley, then he's mildly (Please Use More Appropriate Word) to say the least. We don't need to have the cap room to outright sign a FA....we need the cap space to help another team get one of the main FA...while allowing us to trade for a commodity that not only we value, but otherwise couldn't obtain outside of a sign and trade. I will say I don't mind the idea of this...but if this is his only move regarding our cap space, then it's just plain stupid.

So Richard Jefferson and Rip go down before the rest of the team even thinks about reaching their prime. Doesn't sound well to me. Add the fact that both Rip and Jefferson are overpaid and you know this is a terrible proposal. Actually, you are trying hard to become the all-time worst Wolves trade proposer.
I thought CDM88 was unbeatable but your proposals are even worse. CDM just owns the crown because of the quantity of miserable trades including the Wolves he has posted yet.

That said I would do the deal in the OP if we don't have other options of spending our cap.

I can't think of a better recipe for disaster than Beasley-Cousins-Darko-Whiteside.

It would be pretty awful. Basically we'd be assembling a cross between the worst parts of the Jailblazers and the Wizards of the last couple years. A bunch of players with questionable attitudes(and grouped together so none of them have any chance to reach their potential) and several horribly overpaid veterans who are on the decline.

If the goal was to destroy the franchise for good, this would be one way to do it.
