Depending on whos there at 23 if theres no one we like I'd trade it for Rudy. And of course the Jefferson for Prince,#7 is something most of us would do. Then maybe #7 and Love for #2?

^ So basically turn Jefferson/Love into #2 and Prince? Would you then put Cousins at PF with Darko at C? just wondering...

I think that the #4 + #16 for #2 will start to warm up closer to draft time.. then we can get the guy we have always wanted in evan turner. if that happens, trade #23 for rudy fernandez, then use gomes/sessions/2nd rounders (whatever works) to move up and get paul george. after all that's done, do the al jeff for prince + #7. then if theres anyway, somehow trade prince and some other asset to SAC and eat up nocionis contract, along with Hawes or thompson, since they want to shed some salary.
Flynn/Sessions/Rubio
Turner/Ellington/George
Fernandez/Brewer/George
Love/Pek
(Thompson/Hawes)/Aldrich

trade 4 and 16 for 2.
no to trades involving Al, an established player, for a mid-lottery pick. if we're seeking roster balance, trade Al (or Love or Pekovic+extras) for an established SF.
flynn (rubio)
turner
gay or deng or...?
love
darko
wes johnson or aminu are big-time gambles when you consider how much talent you give up in shopping Al.

I voted #23 for Fernandez. Portland fans might not like it, but I think the value's there for both sides. I haven't given up on Rudy just yet, and it gives us a much needed 3pt threat. If it doesn't work out, it will at least help us lure Rubio over.

Unless he hates it here, in which case Rubio may never come.

I don't think he'll hate it. He'll be getting more minutes, and Kahn's building a pretty euro heavy roster. Something I think he'd be looking for if he were to go to another nba club.

I wouldn't mind taking Kapono's contract. He's a good shooter and might work nice in the triangle. I think if we take back his salary though, we'd have to give up less than Love to move up to 2. I don't really want move Love unless we get really solid established value and not the crapshoot that is a draft pick.

Ok, "Euro heavy" was a poor choice of words. But Rubio, Pekovic, and Darko could all be a big part of our future. We've also got Stewie and Pavlovic still on the roster, all-be-it not for long.
Rudy wasn't happy when Rodriguez left Portland, and I think he'd love the opportunity to play with Ricky again.

Why would a Spaniard rather play with a Serb than an American? The fact that they're both european is pretty irrelevant. I'm sure Rudy would love to play with Rubio and vice versa, but if Rudy comes here and sucks it up, or butts heads with Rambis, or doesn't get playing time, or just about a hundred other things that could go wrong, well then it could lead to a volatile situation with Rubio.
Nevertheless, I'm all for bringing Rudy over because he's a versatile ball player and not only is that the type of player Rambis and Kahn like, but it's also the type of player we're lacking. I still don't think we need to give up the #23 for him though. I doubt the Blazers would even be much interested in another late first without another deal to package up. They have enough young players not getting playing time as is.

and rights to Seraphin in the near future. His name sounds like an over the counter pain reliever.

Been saying this forever because Rubio will be interested in Rudy's experience here. I think we're going to have to go our of our way to appease Fernandez, so I think we're giving him too much power.

I think European players tend to stick together on most nba squads, and if they had a choice they'd want more of a European influence in the nba.

That's what Prokorov's Nets (and the Raptors) are for. I have to say I'm intrigued at an All-Spanish, or All-Argentian team. I know Argentina isn't in Europe, I'm just listing National Powerhouses.
