Hopefully no one shoots bottle rockets at him if he leaves for the NBA.

These statements from Kahn were only separated by a couple sentences
David Kahn: Pekovic would like to come to the NBA now
Darko wants to come back to us.
Anyone else notice a difference in how Kahn talks about the two? Am I reading into it too much?

The church-like atmosphere of the NBA should be a nice change of scenery for Pekovic.

I think your right. Kahn is saying too much information and I don't think he even notices it. A lot of people say he should be transparent, but that doesn't really help us. This is from Peedee's thread a few weeks ago.
http://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=1012419http://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=1012419Ricky has only increased his value by his play in Europe this past season and Pekovic is coveted by many teams and ready to come to the NBA.
Now Ricky's comment doesn't worry me because I want his value to increase. Seriously would you rather want it to decrease or stay the same? His statement on Pekovic wasn't necessary at all.

Yeah I think you might be. You can look at it the other way too as he said Rambis "really liked" Pekovic and now he has to take that into account.

PAO's coach just re-signed for 2 years and he made the statement that he only re-signed with the club because all the players of the team that he wanted to keep would be there next season. Which means either Pekovic is staying in Panathinaikos, or the coach does not want him anymore.

Or Pekovic doesn't want to risk his life in Greece anymore.

The coach stated he would not re-sign unless every single player he wanted on the team returned. So if Pekovic is leaving the team and Obradovic wanted him, he would have left the team. I'm actually not surprised by this at all.
Pekovic is a low post monster on offense, but he is a foul machine and never plays any defense and barely even tries to rebound. BTW, Pekovic grew up playing in Serbia where the fans are exactly like the Greek fans. Pekovic would not even consider that strange what happened at that game.

http://www.talkbasket.net/news/panathin ... -3091.htmlMoving on to another major subject that has raised quite some attention of international media: Will Pekovic stay or will he join the Timberwolves in the NBA? Minnesota Timberwolves' GM David Kahn stated in a recent interview after his trip to Europe, that Pekovic is both ready and wanting to join the franchise. The contract that was reported is a little more than 3 million dollars for 3 seasons. And here is the tricky part: if Pekovic stays with Pana for another season he will be getting 1.3 million euro net! And not only that, but for the additional two years of the Minnesota offered contract he would probably get even more than that in Europe. The conclusion is that if Pekovic would stay in Europe for the next three seasons instead of going to the NBA, he would be earning about double as much per season. And that is a thinker.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And actually he would earn 1.7 million euros next year and not 1.3 million and probably about the same the next two years. So it means that the Wolves are offering him less than half the amount that Panathinaikos is. Poor decision by the Wolves.

Actually the Euro has been cratering so 1.7mil Euros is a little over $2mil US. Subtract assorted US taxes from a $3mil deal and it's @ a half million less than Europe. The free car and housing adds quite a bit to the Euro deal, but how much is that offset by sneaker deals, etc in the US.
(One of the advantages for lesser paid players playing for the Rockets. They can get quite nice sneaker deals w/Chinese companies.)

I especially like the fact how he picked "Ricky Business" as his screen-name ... Great try, IMHO!

But slightly too obvious.
On-topic: I wouldn't be surprised if Obradovic doesn't like Pekovic. Imagine Larry Brown having to deal with a player like him. (not saying the 2 coaches are alike, they do however require the same kind of discipline and mind-set from their players, though)

But.... KWSN-Men/Talkbasket/Laker4Life/JVG'sWorld/IFeelDevotion/ItaliaRapsFan/Kill_Bill_Pana with his infinite wisdom and 197 IQ didn't like Ricky Rubio. Spanoulis was his man crush.
Unless thats why he picked the SN.
Thats a clever way of hiding his true identity.
