Hearing Cousins won't work out in Minnesota. Apparently they have their mind made up on Wes Johnson. Jives w/everything else we're hearing.

Well, have fun with the T-Wolves, guys. Looks like I'm officially bandwagoning some other team (maybe the Thunder).

This is pure incompetence by the front office. Even if you don't want him, you need to work him out as a smokescreen to other teams!

Relax. In a trade up scenario Johnson might be more appealing to the Nets and the Sixers. Even if we take Johnson to keep him, no one can honestly say they know Cousins is going to be a better pro than Johnson. Let's just wait and see what happens.

Haven't really been keeping up with Johnson's workout schedule, but did he have a private workout with you guys? Or did he compete against others?

Not working out one of the 4 best players in a what is perceived as a 4 player draft when you might want to trade down is dumb. Nothing is gained by telegraphing your moves.

Might also be a good idea just to work him out for the sake of checking him out further. Why not?

does anyone know if the wolves had a rep at the SAC workout of Favors and Cousins?

Have the Wolves worked out any of the top 5 prospects? We'll see what happens.

If we're taking Johnson to move up to get Favors or Turner, then I retract everything I just wrote. However, if after almost a whole year of Kahn talking about getting a star this off season, he goes on to pass on one of the 4 guys in this draft with legitimate star potential for Wes Johnson, then it really will be time to abandon ship.

We definitely don't know if Cousins will be better. In fact, there's a good chance that he could be a big bust. We do know, however, that Cousins has the potential to be a legitimate franchise player and Johnson doesn't. This team already has plenty of solid role players, there's no point in using the 4th pick in a 4 player draft to get another one.

I'm with Baldric on this one. Not working out Cousins would be a sign of incompetence/stupidity from the front office. Cousins is obviously talented, and not at least doing their due diligence on him would be irresponsible. There's also nothing to gain by getting tunnel vision to that extent on one prospect right now.

Hopefully the Johnson rumors are the smokescreen, but the more that comes out about what Kahn may be thinking this summer (wanting to throw money after Rudy Gay, not even willing to use the #16 on Aldrich, this WJ stuff), the more discouraged I've gotten.

How do we "know" this? We don't know anything at this point.

It's all a bunch of hooey though. Why would we lock in on Johnson and then separately plan to throw a bunch of money at Gay? Something doesn't smell right.

At the same time, though, the whole switch from McHale to Kahn was supposed to be this big change from incompetence to a legitimate front office that could build a contender. If Kahn is going to start doing the same crap that McHale used to do, I don't think I can take it anymore.

Also -- maybe choosing not to work out Cousins means we're trading the #4 pick, not that we're locked into Johnson -- Randolph?

Exactly, how much could you learn from a 1 on 0 workout anyway? They already interviewed him at the combine. And since Cousins' agent won't let him workout against anybody, how much can we possibly learn from watching him shoot jumpers in a gym by himself that we don't already know from 38 games at Kentucky?

McHale would have taken a lesser player who's a worse fit. Johnson may be the lesser player, but he is the better fit.
