Cap space for Iggy?

Some debate on the trade board about whether Philly would do this at all, but I thought it merited discussion here. Some MN posters don't think he's worth his contract (shrink, cough) but he fits a young, uptempo team pretty well on paper.

I wouldn't give up the 4 and cap space for Iggy, but there are other alternatives. A clever 3-way is suggested near the end though by a highly astute MN poster:

To MN - Iguodala, Prince

To Detroit - Jefferson

To Philly - Gomes, Sessions, 7 (from Det), 23 (from MN)

Thoughts? I think this is the kind of deal Kahn has been talking about to the local media - an obvious upgrade at a position of need, and a (expiring) veteran mentor-type to boot.

It's fine for us. My only thought is that I don't think Philly is looking to dump Iggy. Despite what others might think, I believe the front office is gung-ho about playing Turner and Iggy together under coach Collins.

Not a real big fan of Iggy on our team, he isn't a good enough shooter to play with the players we will have(Rubio, and Brewer).

That shrink is one cheap SOB.

I like Iguodala well enough as a player, but he is in no way a bargain on his long deal thru 2014.

12,345,250 13,531,750 14,718,250 15,904,750 = $56+ mil

Worth an expiring? Probably. Raw cap space when its at its highest value? I say no.

In any event, I hope we can all agree that we wouldn't consider this until the major free agents have signed, and the cap space trades that accompany them have all passed, so we don't lose that major opportunity cost.

The 76ers will take the 4th pick not the 7th and Sessions. Then we can talk turkey. I think I will take some of this.

I'm all for Iggy and would do it. Especially if Johnson is our guy at #4. Don't think Philly would though, he's still a very marketable player, but that is a pretty decent return for them.

I don't see why you're laughing. If you seriously consider Igoudala's value to be the 4th, you're an idiot.

Pretty much. In fact, take the 23rd out as well. They're getting a lottery pick and two useful players, one of whom has great payroll reducing potential. That is more than enough for Iggy.

I don't think that Philly does it, and if they do move Iggy it's not going to be for more picks. I would definitely consider it and probably do it, not just for Iggy but because how much I would like someone like Prince around in the locker room. This team needs some Sam Mitchell's, Terry Porter's, etc. especially if we go with Cousins which is what this deal would lead to.
