Would Minnesota fans do this? I'm in an argument with a guy, and he thinks that Minnesota would do that trade. While I think they would laugh at it. Just want to see what you guys think. Why wouldn't you or why would you?

If it helps your argument, we would not trade the #16 for Thad Young,

Only if Philly throws in #2, some cheese steaks, and the Rocky statue.

I like Young, but not for the 4th pick.

The question should be Thad Young for the 23rd pick.

I think Thad Young for the #16 pick is pretty fair value. He is just about to turn 22 (Wes Johnson turning 23) and still has loads of potential, plus he is already a proven player. The 16th pick could be a bust for all we know. Only reason why I think its fair is because Young is in his contract year.

Agreed I'd do 16 for Thad. People here just think if a guy can't shoot he isn't worth our time. They are completely mistaken though.

That's exactly why we wouldnt make that deal. We can get a younger, comparable talent on a brand spanking new rookie deal at #16 instead of a guy that hasnt shown me any major progression lately who is a year away from needing a new deal. I don't hate Thad, but if the price is the 16, I'll gladly be "stuck" with a George/Henry.

Thad Young becomes an RFA next year, so I wouldn't give the #16, and maybe not even the #23.
I don't think there's much upside. If he gets worse, its a bad deal. If he stays the same, then we are faced with a dilemma on what to pay him, and the same goes if he was to improve. If we're going to pay market in a year, and next year he's not making our season anyway, why give up anything for him? I'll keep the picks. Give me four long years of rookie scale on a guy that may or may not succeed.

Thad is being grossly underestimated as a player. One down year with EJ does not mean he does not have starter potential. I'd prefer to keep him this year & see what he can do. The fact that he will be a RFA is a negative & clearly he is not worth #4 but there are no guarantees that #16 will ever be more than a role player/scrub either. Philly grabbed Rodney Carney with #16. You've seen how that worked out. #23 on the other hand is a clear crap shoot. That's the pick Philly gave to Minnesota to get rid of KK so that we'd have a chance to sign Brand. Don't see that as having any real value.

We also have Brewer, who is very similar in production, a very good chance at signing Wes Johnson, Love and Jefferson. He doesn't seem much of an upgrade to any of those guys. Whether he is a SF or PF. Which seems unclear at this point.

Agreed. He isn't an upgrade to any of those players.
