Kamla on Draft Preview: Darko is the future C

Post#1 » by gensu3k1 » Tue Jun 22, 2010 4:06 am

On Rick Kamla's NBA preview show on NBATV, he reported that 2 front office sources from the Twolves, whom he claimed are extremely reliable sources, told him that Darko is not only the future starting C of the wolves, but he is the only player on the roster that is envisioned as a future starter for the team in the long term.

Kamla is a huge Wolves fan, btw.

I'd agree.

1: Rubio/Flynn
2: /Brewer
3:
4: /Love
5: Darko/

The rest will be filled with trades, draft picks, and free agency

As I wrote in a "Wolves Insider" for today's paper, it's sounding more and more like Kahn and Rambis would start all over again if they can with Ricky Rubio, Darko Milicic, maybe Nikola Pekovic and the players they add Thursday night

Yeah when you put it that way, it actually does make sense...it doesn't exactly help you boost their trade value though if other teams hear you don't think anyone but darko is a legit starter lol

Well be ready for another 5 year rebuild. Maybe the wolves will be in the playoffs by 2016.

Darko was solid during his few games here. Nothing more. But I guess that's fine; I wouldn't read too much into it. It's not like we're planning on building around the guy.

Is anyone surprised by this though? It's been consistent with everything we've been thinking, except maybe that part about starting over

I doubt that Kahn has the time to completely start over.

I think Love should start. I know if we get a guy like Favors or a decent big for Al in a sign and trade, that defensively it'd be better with Love at a 6th man, but I think we could get more value if we trade him, over paying him to play off the bench.

Thinking that Love isn't a future starter is just dumb. Trade him if you think he's not starting material, because every other team in the NBA will.

Love can't create his own offense or adequately defend his position. He's a hustle/energy off the bench guy, albeit a very good one.

Ummm....
Lakers, Clippers, Blazers, Grizzlies, Mavericks off the top of my head wouldn't start him. Likely more.

I said starting material. He's a starting caliber NBA player, and Kahn is perhaps the only NBA GM who doesn't realize it.

edit-I see the confusion, I didn't mean every other team would start him, I meant every other team would think he was starting material.
