Three MIN - NOH Gomes/#11 Options

Post#1 » by shrink » Thu Jun 24, 2010 4:29 pm

I think there is no team that would get more value out Gomes partially-guaranteed deal than NOH, and these deals have been getting some support on the trade board:

MIN GIVES: Gomes + #23
MIN GETS: Stevenson + #11

NOH GIVES: Songalia + #11
NOH GETS: Gomes + #23 + 2nd

DAL GIVES: Stevenson
DAL GETS: Songalia + 2nd

This deal saves NOH about $8 mil this year by reducing the lux, lower priced pick, and salary cut from Songalia's $4.8 mil. MIN uses cap space to improve their pick into late lottery, and DAL gets a more productive player for about $700,000 and a 2nd. We need a third team because Songalia can't be traded back to MIN this season (before July 1).

Same deal, but with PHI instead of DAL .,, Songalia for Willie Green.

MIN GIVES: Gomes + Hollins + #23
MIN GETS: Peterson + #11

NOH GIVES: Peterson + #11
NOH GETS: Gomes + Hollins + #23

MoPete carries less value and hasn't been as productive as Songalia. NOH may not mind adding a cheap 7-footer (they have none) and they add another player to their roster minimums. MIN may (or may not) be anxious to move Hollins.

How about we make it even a little easier, Gomes and 23 (or a 2nd if they don't want the guaranteed contract) for the Butler trade exception, Wright and 11. NO can then cut Gomes and save plenty of cash.

yes, but not until that 11 pick gets there and Henry or George (or Aminu *winky face*) is still on the board

Interesting and better for us, but NOH gets $4 mil less benefit after lux.
