The plot thickens...
I have been holding off on posting for a while now because I didn't want to get caught up in non-stop speculation, but today I just couldn't resist the urge to log in.
I think this is something we would have to strongly consider....

I've maintained that Love may have additional value to NJN because he may help them attract an elite free agent more than some rookie. However, we don't know who wants to go there, so its all speculation.

al for 3
3 - Derrick Favors
4 - Wesley Johnson
16 - Trade for Future 1st ( we owe Clips a 1st for Jaric trade, we need to think ahead)
23 - Terrico White

Not surprising at all. Expect to see a Detroit/Sacramento bidding war for Cousins.
Edit:

I really doubt it. All of the elite Free Agents that they'd really be interested in are Power Forwards, which is why they're hesitating to take Favors.

Do you have a link? I believe the Nets are shopping the pick, but does it specifically callout Love+16 as an option or is that just rube speculation?

With all the flip-flopping NJ has been doing I was starting to think they may not love anyone at 3, I think a front line of Al and Favors could do some damage, plus we still get Wes on the wing at 4. Certainly an interesting idea.

That's interesting, because then Favors would fall and we would have our choice. If New Jersey got to 5 they could still get Wes Johnson maybe, plus an asset.

Honestly I'm all for Detroit and Sac in a bidding war for 3 and the rights to Cousins because that means the the Wolves still get their man at 4 in Favors. Then we just need to figure out way we want to do with Al... I'd certainly like to see us figure out how to move back up to get George who's probably got a higher ceiling than Johnson does, I'd also love Henry but all in all this is going to be an interesting and important day for the future of the Wolves.

It's from Woj's Twitter:
# Rod Thorn "doesn't love" Nets draft spot now and open for right bid to move down, sources say. "He's fine with sliding back," source says. 21 minutes ago via web
and this is interesting, too:
Minnesota is still calling around and trying to figure out the Nets want with the third pick. 9 minutes ago via UberTwitter

Hate to give up on Love, but I would probably do that.
A trio of Darko / Jefferson / Favors gives you all you need as for as post skills. I prefer love due to his age and keeping our core players closer to Rubio's age, but that would be an interesting move.
Trade down with Sac to get Wes + Greene. Sessions/Gomes/#23 for Ford #10 and select George.
Darko - Favors
Jefferson - Favors - Greene
Johnson - Greene
George - Brewer
Flynn - Ford
Older talent to win more now Jefferson / Wes / Darko / Ford
Young Talent ready for later Rubio / George / Favors.

I wrote this in another thread:
I'm really thinking this is a game by Thorn. First, they thought that Minnesota was locked in on Johnson, so they leaked that they were going to take to see what kind of offers Minnesota would give them. Then, after they saw that Minnesota would be perfectly happy with Favors, they leaked this latest news to see if Minny would blink.
I'm guessing that Thorn is coming to realize that Minnesota isn't interested at all in moving up from 4, so now he's seeing what he can get in a move up from Sacramento, Detroit, and straight up from Minnesota.
I'm guessing that either New Jersey will trade the pick to Sacramento or Detroit so that they can guarantee Cousins or they'll draft Johnson because he's a more win now player than Favors (important to Avery Johnson and their new owner) and more importantly, he doesn't harm their FA PF plans.

Al/Flynn/Gomes for Harris/Humphries/Yi/Dooling/3 is the best I'd have to offer

Love + Pekovic for #3 - Take Favors
#4 - Take Cousins
Jefferson + #16 + #23 for #5 - Take Wes Johnson
don't wake me up

I'd do it. I'd rather get a third team involved that wants Jefferson and thus we can keep Love but that's probably not possible. I wonder how far back NJ is willing to slide.
If we could flip them a top 10 pick and take on some salary (Humphries and Yi?), would they do it?

Ok, so Love+16 for 3 was pure speculation... if NJ is looking to move down, I'm guessing they'd be looking to move just a few spots as others have stated. Although Love+16 may seem fair from a value perspective, that would require them to take on additional salary which is the opposite of what they're trying to do right now.

If NJ wants to only slide a couple, that leaves MN, Sac, GS, and maybe Det. I really can't see anyone on Sacramento other than Evans who would interest them (not happening). GS has Ellis, Randolph, Biedrins, but only Ellis wouldn't double up what they have or want (assuming Boozer will sign). Detroit could offer Prince, but unless NJ doesn't care about any of the top players, that's too far to drop. I think that NJ will end up keeping their pick & select Johnson.

This was a pretty good guess (I had it and others) when there were reports about NJ liking Cousins, then Favors, then WJ, etc. They can try and secure future assets while trimming salary by including Yi/Humphries and having a later pick. They also could move it straight up for a young guy with upside and a cheap contract. The problem with Love is he plays the same position as many of the FA's, which I think may influence their attitude towards Favors a bit as well. Still though something along the lines of Love + Gomes for 3 + Yi/Humphries (maybe both?) could be of interest.
