Hey guys,

I've had the privilege of watching Lazar Hayward play just about every game in his collegiate career and I wanted to say you're getting a wonderful player. Think of Wes Matthews on the Jazz. Both Marquette guys, and he is a super hard worker who can make it and be a solid contributor.

He's a bit small for playing power forward like he was used to in college, but he knows how to guard bigger guys. He will probably play 3 most of the time in MN. He is very strong and has great agility (number 2 in lane behind Wall). Hayward has a great touch from outside, can finish and plays tough D and a tremendous rebounder with a knack for the ball.

He is going to work his butt off and expect him to be a fan favorite!

I grew up in mke too and while I never thought lazar was that good, the guy is a competitor. He did a little bit of everything for Marquette and I would say his play equates to a beefier Wes Matthews. His outside shooting and ball handling are not as good as Matthews but he is better posting up and rebounding. He is a good kid too who works hard. So anyway, care to trade Love to us? Lol.

I've literally watched every game of his career at MU and can say that he is a great addition to any team. I think the value hurts because there were guys like Whiteside and Alabi (center projects, which I think we need) on the board. However I am so happy to have him on the team. The kid plays a different game than Wes Matthews, but they are the same type of hard-nosed, scrappy kids. He always plays out of position on defense and was still a big east PF force.

If I didn't know the guy, I would think big time reach. I hope (and expect) that he will make a lot of Wolves fans very happy.

He's actually one of the few reasons from tonight that I may not jump ship, but I'm biased.

I did think passing on Whiteside was a little weird. He seemed like he'd make a nice running centre.

I think he'll be someone who will add alot to our team, and may actually be able to get some burn for us. Seems like a smart player, and that's probably one of the highest things Kahn wanted in his players.

i didn't see anyone making a move to go after Whiteside or the dude from Florida State ... apparently a couple media driven players that GM's/scouts had little interest in.

I don't mind this pick, but I don't understand the inability to find a true SG that can handle the ball and get to the baskset some ...

WHY DO YOU GIVE AAU players and 1 year and done players first round contracts!? You got this all backwards son!
Four year guys who come to combines and workouts and interviews the right way and represent a University and his team the why Lazar does and play for the USA basketball team should get a first round contract.
He is worth it more as much or more then John Wall is worth it...IMHO. Why should John Wall or any underclassman get first round money?
David Kahn did the right thing in principal. Rewarding the young man when he had what...5 picks!? Go ahead and use one on a guy like Lazar Hayward who has climbed from being not drafted or the last pick in the mocks to the end of the first round.

I salute GM David Kahn for this. I've seen Lazar almost every day for the last 4 years. Great young man who will work his tail off to be the best he can be.

He seems like he is at minimum going to be a very good person and fill the need in the locker room.

His shot is a lot better than I thought, and he always seemed much bigger than 6'6 to me. I guess I really don't know much about him. But I remember him beasting a lot at the PF position and just coming out of nowhere for the rebounds. We'll see!

I think Hayward may become one of my favorites

Listening to Lazar, he sounds intelligent, poised, confident in what he should be able to do, but humble in that he knows he has a lot of work to do. I will say I am warming up to him, though still think if he was a target he should have been traded back into the second round for. Value-wise, eh at #30, but man he seems high character and quite likable in the press conference.
