... to trading Rubio?
Can Flynn handle the position?
Would we consider packaging the Rubes rights to NJ for Favors?
Do we consider packging Al/Rubio?
IMO, if Flynn would have had a few more convincing performances this past season, we'd have made a trade with NJ to get Favors ...
Other thoughts?

From Marc Stein:
Yet it must be noted that there is something else Thorn is working on that could change the subject again. Sources say that the completion of the draft has not stopped New Jersey from continuing to shop forward Yi Jianlian, with Thorn still hopeful he can find a trade between now and July 8 that sheds Yi’s $4.1 million salary from next season’s payroll. Such a move would take New Jersey’s salary-cap space past the $30 million mark, which is why one source says that the Nets making third overall pick Derrick Favors available to increase the chances of moving Yi or Kris Humphries has not been ruled out.http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/post/_ ... ving-thornWorth considering, although I think the Nets would want to get rid of both Yi and Humphries in order to get the max amount of cap space. Favors/Yi/Humphries for Rubio?

interesting article ...
That was the one darkhorse that I felt may come into play during the draft ... I speculated the Wolves wanted Favors AND Johnson, and may trade Rubios rights to make it happen. So far no go, but I think it's something that may be hanging out there this next week.

Do the Nets really need Rubio? They've got Harris and Avery said that he expects (and WANTS) him to stay. Wouldn't it make more sense for the Nets to acquire a wing (so basically no fit on our team because Johnson won't be traded) or a PF replacement?
Dealing for Granger would make the most sense for the Nets IMO.
Harris
Lee
Granger
FA (most likely David Lee?)
Lopez

I don't think Kahn will ever trade Rubio unless Rubio tells him he's never coming to MN. Kahn's basically staked him job on Rubio being a star.
I think a more likely scenario is Humphries/Yi/Favors for Flynn plus something.
That plus something could be a future #1 we get for moving Al. I've heard Ford (yeah, I know) say that NJ is not high on Harris for some reason. This may change with Thorn stepping down. Wasn't Lebron close with Jonny? I seem to remember Lebron being one of the people who convinced Flynn to declare for the draft.
With all that said, I think getting Favors is a pipedream.

yeah, the goal would be to get rubio and favors on the same team.
Rubio/Johnson/Favors

I wonder if its possible to just send them the rights to negotiate with Pekovic and Bjelica plus capspace for
Yi / Humphries / Favors
Yi would actually fit quite well in an uptempo system. Humphries, I could take or leave.
Move Jefferson for Prince and a 1st. Then Prince + Brewer for Iggy + a throw away expiring (Kapono or something)
Darko - Favors
Love - Favors - Yi
Johnson - Webster - Yi
Iggy - Webster - Ellington
Flynn - Sessions
Me likey this....

but New Jersey doesn't really like that. how could they justify this trade to their fan base? I highly doubt New Jersey thinks getting Pek and Bjelica is worth adding Favors to a bust like Yi.

They justify it by being able to offer two max contracts.
Favors / Yi / Humprhies or Amare (or Bosh) AND Joe Johnson (if they miss out on Lebron). Plus Pekovic comes in as their best low post scorer andwould fit great as a 3rd big behind Lopez and Bosh or Amare.
of course Im not sure how having the rights to Pek and Bjelica effects their cap. We could also absorb all of it with just capspace if that works better for NJ.
Not saying its likely, but I wouldn't mind if Khan gave it a shot.

I would love to see this trade happen, no doubt about it but I don't think New Jersey would do it as of now. maybe if they don't find another team to take on Yi and Humphries they'd do it in the end but as of now it's very unlikely to happen.

They're 2nd round picks so they don't affect the cap at all, but we would need to send out more to get that package

yeah I admit its optimistic

what if we combine it with an Al trade for Prince and a 2012 Det first rounder where we send prince to philly for iggy and the 1st rounder (along with pek and belly) to NJ for the same package.
just tryiing to not include rubio and give them 0 additional salary.

I would say at this stage is there is a better chance of Lebron signing, or the team being retracted to Seattle then us trading Rubio right now. Even if his talent does not deserve it yet, he is the magic that the front office keeps reminding people of. He is our hope right now and we are clearly building a team around him.

Avery Johnson and Devin Harris had issues back in their Dallas days.

I would probably due a Yi/Humphries/Favors and maybe draft pick deal for Al Jefferson.I don't know if the Nets would or not until after the first few day of free agency when they strike out on all the Max players.

You are missing the point. We would be getting Favors as payment for taking on Yi/Humphries contracts. There is no reason at all to include value like RUbio in that deal. Our cap space is the deal. Maybe something small with it or moderate (pekovic's rights) but no need for Rubio.

I think it's fair to say they wouldn't. If the trade offer doesn't make you cringe a bit, than you probably not offering enough. Perhaps if the wolves offered a combo of Love or Jefferson plus Flynn for Yi/Humphries/Favors (no additional draft pick) they might get a return call. Probably the wolves would still have to sweeten it.

Probably? We would do that in a heart beat even without the draft pick. NJ never would though. I would even give up a future first.

The #3 pick is not going to be used simply to dump two expiring (and relatively non-expensive) contracts with nothing else in return but extra cap space. If it was this deal would have already happened either with us or another team.

Very true. It also should be mentioned that Harris was supposedly shopped last summer as well.
